Skills and intellectual ability is 2 differs t things. Please don’t mixed the 2 different skill set as 1. Smart and intelligence is also different… a person can be street smart don’t mean he or she can be a MIW…
Congrats to Lieutenant (LTA) Jonathan Loh Jiun. It is a rare honor & achievement from a Singaporean in that prestigious academy.
It is a skill set that goes beyond academia knowledge & its ability to use it fully.
It is about lightning speed RELEXES that is only associated with few in Humankind, in SPECIALIZED roles that they perform in, evident from an array of occupations - acrobats, martial arts, footballers, Olympics gold medalists, F1 drivers, etc. They are NATURALLY gifted, & Singapore, a tiny red dot, has proven that even we have mavericks....
In his case, it is about a flying machine, with its advanced electronics & sensors, with him an unique mortal becoming together as ONE, to develop a special CYBERNATIC CONNECTION, to create the little known 'spider sense' for victory & survival......
To be the best pilot is not about just flying any jet, even a 3rd or 5th generation jet, to shoot down enemy aircraft then return to base, because equally, the enemy pilot & nation would do the same with advanced 5th generation jets.
It takes a pilot with uncommon reflexes, situational awareness, extreme focus & courage to win enemy encounters. Lieutenant (LTA) Jonathan Loh Jiun had proven he is one with his hard earned award & dedication.
Many Singaporeans had attempted to join RSAF as pilots, but only a handful & the best are selected...It is elitist, but with a purpose - to not only defend our country, but return home alive to family & loved ones, thus the great attrition rate.
He had been honest about his academia abilities, as not anyone is cut out to be a general. It would take much more than mere flying skills & reflexes to be a organizer of society, which is another skill set by itself.
As he has a NATURAL ability - reflexes & situation awareness, he would make a better TRAINER to our next generation of pilots, to impart his NATURAL skills to them. What that had been given by Nature, CAN BE NUTURED upon others, thru rigorous special training, not just in the cockpit, but outside of it even in daily life.....
