Panarai PAM422

Why waste money on a watch? Only ugly people who often got low self esteem needs to motivate themselves by wearing expensive stuff.

You see it as expensive .. We see it as reasonable price . That's the different ;) having the best thing in life is a a way to reward yourself after hardwork . Maybe someday you will get what I mean ;)

Celebrity who own panerai , are they ugly ? http://m.coolspotters.com/watches/panerai-luminor

Sour grape at it best ;) I'm sure u belongs to the same group that believe money is not important ;)

I've got no idea about Panarai watches at all. Can someone comment about this PAM422 model and how much it cost?

very nice watch, i like it very much, very nice design,
but

it is hand winding, so you have to wind, like every 3 days, then the glass is not quartz, so it is not scratch proof, it is plexi glass.
the mechanism is panerai in house, not like some of it's watch which uses swiss eta.

the watch is made in switzerland, but italian company.

sandwich dial with brown color. always have a waiting lists, since they only built a limited amount every year.
Once it appear in the shop, will be gone.

after you buy the real thing, get a china made copied wall clock

Im pretty certain you aint a celebrity. But all is good if wearing a ex watch makes you feel you are. Heh heh

Rolex is still king!!! I've got the James bond watch. ;)

waaah, got such a gift ah ?

sell it and then buy a stereo system lah..............you'll get far far far far more joy out of it than a glorified watch..........

Gift la cannot sell. Keep it la.

theres nothing good or bad enuf to say abt tis watch. A watch is a watch is a watch
it's differentiated based on its snob value and the functions within it.

to me I like a rolex for work a u-boat for social and a vacheron for the snob value.
I have no idea whether good or bad abt any of them, they all tell time and truth be known, when I cross timezones, its usually a humble casio. So go figure.

enjoy the watch and get a watch winder if you get into this hobby :)

Now a days I look at my iPhone for time more than my watch and crossing timezone is a breeze as done automatically without fail.

IMHO: Grand seiko is a nice solid watch, but it has doesnt have the value of a rolex and looks are dated too.
Always reminds me of japs boozing up while fingering geishas. dont know why :*:

Also don't know why, a Grand reminds me of Ultraman and Toyota Century

IMO , men don't wear jewelry .. So a good watch is a must especially if u are meeting customers or attending dinner . When I buy timepiece I don't see if its expensive or cheap .. Design , movement and rarity are more important . Timepiece can be use as a good investment too . some ppl buy gold as investment .. For me I don't like gold .

Buying a watch you have to think of many things..What are you buying for? Vanity / resale value / appreciation like investment each one has different consideration, brands, models etc.

Also got to remember, it is easy to spoil watch without maintenance. Regular service, oiling etc (2-3 yrs) must for good automatics. Manual wind even less interval. Official agents charge enormous amounts ($500+ all the way to several thousand) to do that. Which means no point buying a watch that you cannot maintain, because of retirement, low income or whatever. If you don't service, expert buyer can tell, resale value drop like brick, assuming of course, it is running.

Indeed, the other "jewellery" men can go for is cufflinks. Pens and tie clips were there for a while.

So is there any 'good watch' to start with say within $10k ?
