To all our Primary 6 students -
You have crossed a milestone in your lifelong learning journey.
Remember that collecting your #PSLE results today is but one of many milestones. May you continue to stay curious, determined and disciplined to learn; and do justice to your gifts by doing good for yourself, your family and our country.
May we also remember to give thanks to our families and teachers who have given you help throughout to achieve your potential.
We will continue to work hard to enable you to fulfil your dreams. In time, we hope that you too will enable the next generation to similarly attain their aspirations.
As you embark on the next phase of your learning, do pursue the path that will build on your strengths.
Looking ahead, there will be many opportunities for you to explore your interests and develop your abilities in our diverse range of secondary schools.
The following resources are available for you and your parents to find out more about secondary schools:
* SchoolFinder (https://moe.gov.sg/schoolfinder)
* Secondary schools’ virtual open houses (https://www.schoolbag.edu.sg/.../online-open-house-for...)
* PSLE-FSBB microsite (https://www.moe.gov.sg/.../posting-to-secondary.../main.html)
I am proud of all of you.

Completed my third #PSLE
1f4aa.png

My first was many years ago as a student where the KPI given to me by my mother was just to make sure I passed.

My second was as a parent some years back. The goal was to assure my child that we will always love her and support her regardless.

My third PSLE was my second as a parent and my first as the Education Minister with 40,000 children as my own.

Was I concerned?

Or confident?

Concerned for
- Our teachers’ well-being
- Our children’s learning amidst COVID-19
- Their parents’ emotional journey

All the more with various new policies to be implemented - from AL scoring system to Full Subject-Based Banding.

But I am always confident of
- Our teachers’ commitment and dedication to inculcate the right values and perspectives to our children beyond exam scores
- The resilience of our children
- The professionalism and rigour of the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board
- The partnership with our parents to encourage our children to adopt the right perspectives towards learning for life and building their resilience for life.

Ultimately, this is but one milestone in our lifelong development of competencies and lifetime pursuit of wisdom.

May our children continue to enjoy their learning journey.

Proud of how we have overcome the COVID-19 challenges together - children, families, teachers and the broader community.

Circumstances do not define us. Our responses will.

Keechiu happy that he is bi-lingual.

Most of us in Singapore speak two languages or more – this can be attributed to our unique cultural and language landscape.
At the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism’s 10th Anniversary Commemorative Event yesterday evening, I spoke on the raison d’etre for our bilingual policy, and how bilingualism has contributed to Singapore’s nation-building, and helped us stay connected with our heritage and pursue opportunities in the international arena.
This year we celebrate the Fund’s decade of good work in supporting many initiatives and projects for the various mother tongue languages. I would like to express my appreciation to the stakeholders, partners and donors of the Fund for how far we have come.
May we continue to work towards many more fruitful decades ahead.

Who are the people running the behind-the-scenes operations in our schools?
The spotlight is seldom on them, but they are critical in keeping the wheels of daily school operations turning smoothly. In this video produced by Yew Tee Primary School teacher Ms Pek Pei Yu and her colleagues, we get a glimpse into the work of the operations staff in their school who are often first to arrive and last to leave.
With activities wound down for the school holidays, I hope that our hardworking school operations colleagues will also have a good break this year-end. Thank you for your quiet, steadfast contributions.

How can we achieve bigger, more audacious goals for Singapore's future?
This was the challenge I raised to our young scientists at today's UNTAME: REBOOTING OUR WORLD Festival organised by Science Centre Singapore.
With creativity and the help of science and technology, we can uncover unlimited possibilities for Singapore — from reimagining how we use space, to increasing options for renewable energy.
Had the opportunity to meet our local farmers who are playing their part in creating a more sustainable future for us. The Fish Farmer, one of Singapore's largest marine fish farm, uses solar-powered aerators and water monitoring systems to ensure the quality of produce while Nippon Koi Farm, which specialises in breeding koi, developed proprietary aquaponic methods to diversify its initial business. Now it produces 38 tonnes of food fish, 15 tonnes of prawns and up to 10 tonnes of vegetables a year for Singapore!
Was also glad to be part of the completion of Singapore's largest bottle cap mural art. The mural art, work of Science Centre's creator-in-residence Edmund Chen, is made up of 18,000 used bottle caps gathered by the community to raise awareness about a key environmental concern - plastic pollution.
Every one of us has a role to play in building a better and more sustainable world for our future generations. I encourage our young ones to continue to dream big and be inspired to be part of the change.
