In an increasingly digitalised and complex world accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are committed to provide our students with the tools and competences to thrive in this digital future.
I was happy to share Singapore’s experiences with our counterparts today at the G20 Research Ministers’ Meeting, at the invitation of the 2021 Italian G20 presidency. The agenda this year focuses on three key pillars – i) addressing the changing nature of skills, ii) ethical principles and values in research and higher education, and iii) a common understanding of digital spaces.
Beyond strengthening digital skills, it is also important for us to better understand how digital technologies affect our societies and how we interact with one another. The G20 Research Ministers’ Declaration is timely as we tap on our collective wisdom and resolve to address the challenges of today and the future. We look forward to further our partnerships and our work towards advancing sustainable and inclusive development and digitalisation for higher education and research. CCS

Keechiu says he is grateful to serve residents.

Over the past months, our grassroots leaders and volunteers in My Buona Vista as well as agency colleagues, have been canvassing the ground. Whether it is through outreach sessions, market visits or going door-to-door, they have tirelessly encouraged, and in some instances handheld residents especially our seniors, to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations. I have joined them on several occasions and seen their dedication in serving our residents.
It is hard work, but we are glad to see vaccination rates climbing steadily across the island. Our national vaccination coverage is now around 70%. We can do even better. I hope more of our eligible and unvaccinated residents will come forward to protect themselves, their family members and friends, as well as the wider community.
This is our National Day weekend. The theme this year is “Together, Our Singapore Spirit”. I am grateful to serve our residents alongside this dedicated group of volunteers and colleagues. May we keep this Singapore Spirit burning bright! CCS

Happy 56th National Day!
Notwithstanding Covid-19, as I join the National Day Ceremonial Parade at The Float, I give thanks for:
- the sense of security we have, knowing that the men and women of our SAF and Home Team are watching over us
- the sense of assurance we have, knowing that our medical personnel will take care of us regardless
- the sense of calm we have, knowing that our people managing the supply chains are hard at work round the world and round the clock, ensuring that we will have enough essential items and food
- the sense of pride we have, knowing that we have become closer as a nation, caring for one another even through the toughest times and not torn apart by the challenges
- the sense of pride we have, knowing that we have become closer as a nation, caring for one another even through the toughest times and not torn apart by the challenges

- the sense of hope we have for our young and old, knowing that we will work hard together for a better future for all, just as how our forefathers have taught us

Keechiu asks who are your heroes of Singapore. (Maybe he hopes it is him.)

Who are your heroes of Singapore? I had the chance to join Grace, Nabil, Candice and Arvin from Bukit Panjang Primary School for a chat, where they shared about their heroes through their artwork.
They’ve picked some very apt heroes - our frontline and essential workers have kept Singapore safe and running throughout the pandemic.
Through the eyes of our young ones, our everyday heroes can be an inspiration to all of us, and together, we can do great things by contributing in our own ways. Happy National Day!

Keechiu thanks essential service providers.

This is a long weekend for many Singaporeans to celebrate National Day and bond with their family members, or to take a well deserved break.
For others such as those in essential services, they continue to work tirelessly to keep our country functioning. Just like our colleagues and volunteers serving in our community vaccination centre at My Buona Vista in their efforts to drive up our vaccination rate.
Thank you everyone for your service to Singapore and Singaporeans. Happy National Day!

This is not an art gallery, but the beautiful campus of Nanyang JC (Official).
Embodying the concept of “Gallery in Campus”, more than 100 art pieces by students are on display around the junior college.
From self-portraits to social commentary and observations on local life, the expressive works touch on a broad array of subject matter. Other than adding to the vibrancy of the campus, I like that they offer glimpses into the students’ rich inner lives.
Enjoyed meeting the students and learning more about their areas of interests. Karel has done two internships at Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), including at the Genome Institute of Singapore and is keen on studying the life sciences in university. Gabriel opted to study both the sciences and humanities for A levels, and is considering a career as an urban planner because of his passion for geography . Hristhhish is a soccer player who joined NYJC through DSA and has since played in various positions, from striker to goal-keeper! ⚽
It is important to embrace the diversity of talents amongst our youths to help them achieve their individual potential – be it in art, sports, music or math and the sciences etc.

Over the years, Ministry of Education, Singapore has introduced different specialised schools and programmes to our education system to provide more flexibility for our students to customise their learning experiences. We will continue to nurture a broad spectrum of strengths and talents in our students, and prepare them for a fast evolving world that will increasingly value diverse skillsets. CCS
