Hollywood war movies only create fake history and over glamour the American servicemen and equipment American only won WW2 because of ability to mass production of equipment, just aircraft they produced 300k planes of all types. It basically CCP humanwave tactics but better equipped and better firepower.
Personally I prefer to watch German war movies where the main theme is anti war. I watched Stalingrad in cinema in German language when I still a student. Till now I still think it the best war movie I ever seen. The scene where a soldier sliced in two by shrapnel where he died screaming maybe from shock seeing himself being separated in two at waist level make people understand what war will result in.
I agree that Hollywood tend to glamorise their own military. But with well-made movies, the producers will seek to base events on historical facts even though it may be unfavourable to the US. Take the D-Day beach landing scene in Saving Private Ryan. It was so realistic (with so many US marines getting mowed down by German fire) that some WW2 Vets wept, some said it was exactly what happened. It is not a good tank movie from a German's point of view....entire battalion wiped out by a stationary M4A2 HVSS Sherman tank.
review of movieThis tank war movie betterer.....
This is definitely one of the best for those who have seen it
Blacks seldom served in frontline role. They were mostly support, cooks, lorry drivers. etc. Very few asians served in Europe with the US army. Mostly japanese kids in 442nd and 100th regimental combat team. so, its not racist in this case.Hollywood are fucking racist. There were blacks, Asians as well as white serving the military during WW2 but racist Hollywood only have whites in their movies as hero.
from a tankee point of view, not very realistic in some scenes. but it is what it isI enjoyed it. But after watching its Making of, and seeing how historically accurate events, props and the costumes were, I like it even more.
Yes, it was depicted in Only the Brave (2006). Very good movie.Mostly japanese kids in 442nd and 100th regimental combat team. so, its not racist in this case.
they were not forgotten. 2 of them were elected to long terms in the US Senate and the House of Representative. Dan Inouye and Sparks MatsunagaYes, it was depicted in Only the Brave (2006). Very good movie.
'Only the Brave' takes you on a haunting journey into the hearts and minds of the forgotten heroes of WWII - the Japanese-American 100th/442nd.

Not all scenes can be 100% accurate but they tried to make it as realistic as possible. Tanks used, weapons used, the effects of armor piercing rounds, the period correct costume, etc. I learned a lot from watching the "Making of".from a tankee point of view, not very realistic in some scenes. but it is what it is
Will check it out thanks. Is it based on actual events?since this thread is about WW2 tank movies, then White Tiger is recommended. its russian made tank movie set in ww2 about the battle between a German tiger tank and KV1s
But some scenes are sooo bad in the movie. In any tank, no one can open up the hatch from outside. Otherwise what would be the point in sitting in armour? Also, no tanks put their ammo outside. The fact they were reloading their machine gun ammo from the outside is ludicrous. The initial engagement was also all wrong. U would have whacked the column of SS troops with WP and HE and not with MG fire. Not all scenes can be 100% accurate but they tried to make it as realistic as possible. Good points. I need to rewatch the movie. But some scenes are sooo bad in the movie. In any tank, no one can open up the hatch from outside. Otherwise what would be the point in sitting in armour? Everyone's a critic! Saving Private Ryan is one of the best, no doubt about that.Lousy. Tried to but nowhere near saving private ryan
This thread is on WW2 tank movies. Maybe u don't know the difference between a tank movie and an infantry movie?Lousy. Tried to but nowhere near saving private ryan
Tom hanks and Stephen Spielberg are back together producing another ww2 series called Masters of the Air. Should be about the air force ..Already have, a few times. And "Pacific". I love war movies.
