Fan blade falls off in Changi Village restaurant and hits 2 diners on head: 'Nearly gave me heart attack'

A fan blade fell off in a Changi Village dim sum restaurant and hit two people having dinner there on March 30.
Stomper Anonymous said the fan blade struck the heads of her fiancé and her fiancé's dad.
They were at Le Xuan restaurant to celebrate her future father-in-law's birthday.

"I'd been there multiple times. The food tasted good as usual," recounted the Stomper. "However, that day's dinner nearly gave me a heart attack.
"The ceiling fan that was in the shop broke apart all of a sudden.
"The blade of the fan just snapped off and dropped onto my fiancé’s head. Then it flew and hit my fiancé’s father’s forehead.
"While that was happening, the rest of the fan on the ceiling was still spinning vigorously and looked like it was going to drop down at any moment.
"The staff didn't immediately turn off the fan or check on the two men. However, the lady boss did drop by to apologise and told us that if we visit the doctor, we could pass her the receipt for reimbursement.
The Stomper said luckily, there were no serious injuries.
"Just redness on the forehead of my fiancé's dad and a small bump on my fiancé’s head," added the Stomper.
"A piece of advice is to not sit under their ceiling fan!"
In response to a Stomp query, a spokeswoman for Le Xuan restaurant said the ceiling fan was relatively new.
"It was less than two years old and made of plastic. So it didn't cause any injuries to the customers," said the spokeswoman.
"We suspect that the screw wasn't done well during installation by the technician and became loose. This caused the fan blade to come off."

She recounted: "The boss wasn't around when the accident happened. However, when the customers were about to leave, the lady boss just arrived and got to know about what happened.
"So she immediately apologised, bowed and offered to pay for any medical expenses. The parents were kind and said there were no injuries. They accepted the apology. However, their child still seemed unhappy, which is why I suppose she approached Stomp and shared this accident.
"This was an unfortunate accident that no one was able to foresee or predict. We tried our best to seek forgiveness and thought everything was resolved until this."
Several days before this incident, something else also fell from the ceiling in an eatery while people were having a meal that was reported by Stomp. On March 25, a part of a false ceiling fell in a Choa Chu Kang coffee shop. No one was hurt.
