Many are students in secondary schools, ITEs, polytechnics and junior colleges and were coerced to volunteer for the YOG by their schools. One JC even threatened students with six hours of Corrective Work Order if they do not volunteer.
The Chairman of Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Organizing Committee Mr Ng Ser Miang has denied categorically online reports that Singapore children were forced to attend events ahead of the YOG such as the YOG torch rally.
not too bad lah, she didn't take up golf
Maybe you can provide evidence of such letter circulating by institution, would really like to see it myself how low they would go to achieve result.
"Congratulations! Your child has been given the chance of a lifetime .."
so nice, u cannot reject.
On August 11, my son who is in a neighbourhood secondary school, came back home late although he was in the morning session for Sec Two students. Of course we as parents were fuming mad as it was oredi 6.30pm and still no sign of him at home!
He was detained just to cheer the YOG along main road! I blew my top upon hearing this. This detention was improper as there was no letter or notice from his school that he would be held longer than usual. I had wanted to call the principal the next day to complain about this highly unusual 'detention'.
The mother told him he has to come home immediately from school and if the next time the school ask him to stay longer than usual, he should just walk off and tell them to call his parents! What I didn't like was the non-existent comminications from his school.
They think they could do anything as long as he is a student there? Acting just like the arrogant PAPist eh? The next time I will sure give them a piece of my mind!
I just find it co-incidental that Singapore was given the 'opportunity' to host (thereby spending $300M+ of taxpayers' money) the first YOG and Ng get appointed to a senior position in IOC.
It seemed like the entire country has to suffer, and be a laughing stock of the world, for the glory of 1 man and a party.
Incredible!
KNN...bully primary skool kids .Still got the cheek to say they are not forced.. ng knn miang..:oIo:
2. Pupils are required to have a heavybreakfast
they are slaves, so don't expect them to be properly fed.
Are you sure the students are told not to bring water bottle?Yes I saw this letter too.
Also say : Please bring extra cash as beverages are not provided.
The students are told not to bring water bottle.
This is what happen when you complain to MOE that school don't let their kids bring Nike water bottle in, MOE quickly say "Miscommunication"
Now they don't even allow your kids to bring water bottle at all, you have to buy with your own money.
SO you want to play with the big boys, they have ways to come back with a sucker punch.
Are you sure the students are told not to bring water bottle?
As in they are not allowed to bring their own water?
