I agree with you in principle.

But in order for human society to function, the framework of the law must be devised in a certain fashion. That includes quantifying age of consent, regardless of actual psychological maturity.

I know of some girls who are approaching late 20s but are so immature and emotionally like a child that I feel they should not be allowed to consent to sex.

The philosophy of law is a complex one. It is designed so that cases can be proven in court with a certain level of objective reasoning that must be logical from beginning to end. And at the same time the law must evolve to take into account social norms and values. You should consult a lawyer on this as I know not more than you.

These 50 individuals are unfortunate to be caught in the snare and many of them I'm sure were not aware the girl was underaged. If they can prove ignorance, it might be a mitigating factor. But I don't think the judge will acquit just because they can prove ignorance.

Anyway I better stop here because it is now sub-judice and I don't want to cross the line.

Where they are not specifically told about the age, the Police will still charge if they are underage. The client then makes representation to AG or fight the case. Clients below I think 23 have special grounds to mitigate.
