I'm standing on platform B (NE Line towards Punggol) of Outram MRT station. Ibsen waiting for train for more than 10mins. Platform is packed now. Train just arrive. Really stupid all we got was apologies over the system knn.[/QUOTE]

10 mins also cry heaven and hell,
It may take you even longer to wait for a taxi or a bus.

When train arrives punctually every time every day, never thank LHL or LKY or the MRT people.
What did you do during those 10 mins of wait time ?

eh bro, not say I want to kpkb about being late la, the platform getting more and more crowded by the minute sial until almost full you know?

Which MRT in the world doesn't have delays? 50 years ago, Singaporeans didn't even have an MRT to complain about! It's thanks to the PAP and our founding father Lee Kuan Yew that we're no longer living in slums today. Majulah PAP!

One cannot compare on breakdowns alone. Fare structure, compensations, salary of their fat cats, overall system, etc.
It must be a holistic comparison.

fair comment. from what I can see, the London subway is much more older, yet the MRT is breaking down more often, even at a younger age. The UK staff is more motivated, working with enough passion to make commuters happy. They are also more organised, with train staff working closely with Transit Police to co-ordinate traffic during breakdowns etc. During the $10 mil we heard testimony of staff not knowing what to do and poor SOP implemented.

Fare structure I can't comment because the UK ticket seems to be more expensive, but this could be due to necessary replacements. for SMRT, the commuters pay higher fares, yet there is a surplus of profits, this has been discussed before.

You can see the operations of the Tube from this BBC documentary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UBttMwkrXY&feature=related
