Riyadh: Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, will soon get its first Halal Sex Shop, according to a report on Alyaoum24, an Arabic news portal.
The opening date has not been revealed but the report states that Islam-appropriate sex toys will be sold on the shop.
Abdelaziz Aouragh, the founder of the shop, had previously consulted a Saudi Arabian cleric who had allowed him to sell ‘halal’ items that would lead to ‘the improvement of the sexual relationship between husband and wife’, he explained as reported by AFP.
Aouragh clarified that the products would not include things such as “blow-up dolls or vibrators. It's not about the sex act, it's what's going on around it. Our products increase the atmosphere and heighten feelings of sensuality”.
Aouragh has tied up with German company Beate Uhse, a leading sex product vendor in Europe. Aouragh's store will sell 18 Islam-appropriate sex toys.
