OYK discusses about KKH.

Ong Ye Kung

12 hrs ·
#DidYouKnow that the old Kandang Kerbau Hospital – better known as KKH today – was once a “birthquake” hospital in the 1960s?
It also earned a mention in the Guinness Book of Records for delivering close to 40,000 babies in 1966! This means about 100 newborns each day.
Today, KKH has been renamed as KK Women's and Children's Hospital. It is also the only integrated women’s and children’s hospital in #Singapore.
Here’s a #throwback to some photos of the old Kandang Kerbau Hospital that was once the busiest maternity hospital in the world.
Read more about the history of KKH here:

OYK pays tribute to healthcare workers.

Ong Ye Kung

13 hrs ·
Happy #MayDay! On this day, I want to pay tribute to all our healthcare workers.
They provide round-the-clock care for the patients.
They are our last line of defence in our fight against COVID-19.
They made tremendous sacrifices.
Their indomitable and selfless spirit kept #Singapore going during the pandemic.
We owe them a great debt of gratitude.
I want to thank every healthcare team for staying at their posts and performing their duties.
Thank you, to all our #HealthcareHeroes!

This is the Emergency Department (ED) team at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

They often had to move a step ahead to adjust capacity, outbreak management measures, resources and protocols to save lives. The ED also led doctors, nurses, radiographers, pharmacists and volunteers across various units to care for hundreds of patients daily to keep our community safe.

The Chronic Programme team at Alexandra Hospital (AH).

With the teleconsultation service on the One NUHS app, AH patients do not need to go to the hospital to see their doctors for a follow up consultation. The teleconsultation feature also helps to reduce the crowd in clinics and allows for better safe distancing measures.

During Hari Raya last year, I said that as we continue with our COVID-19 response measures, I hoped for a brighter, bolder Raya in 2022.
I’m glad that this year, indeed families can reconnect more fully, pray in large groups and restart visiting!
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all my Muslims friends!

OYK announces the first shipment of Novavax’s Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine arrived in #Singapore.

Ong Ye Kung

30 mins ·
This morning, the first shipment of Novavax’s Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine arrived in #Singapore.
This is the 4th COVID-19 vaccine under our National Vaccination Programme.
For a start, we will roll out the Nuvaxovid vaccine at our first Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre (JTVC) at the former Bishan Park Secondary School in end May. This JTVC will be a new 2-in-1 facility that offers both testing and vaccination services.
The Nuvaxovid vaccine will also be offered at 20 Public Health Preparedness Clinics.
It will be available for individuals aged 18 years and above, for both primary series and booster vaccination.
If you are still not vaccinated or boosted, this is a good alternative to the mRNA vaccines to get protected against COVID-19. Get vaccinated and boosted soon.
