Manchester United 2015-2016

Personally, I'm looking forward to see him back on the field. What a travesty with his long injury

Luke Shaw: Man Utd defender returns to training after broken leg

The England left-back, 20, suffered a double fracture in the Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven in September.

Shaw's return was confirmed by United team-mate Juan Mata, who uploaded a picture of the pair on Instagram.

"My friend Luke Shaw just came in from running out on the pitch! Getting closer," added the Spain midfielder.
Shaw is still in contention for Euro 2016, according to England manager Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson wants United to allow Shaw, an England regular before the injury, to prove his fitness before naming his squad on 12 May.

However, Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal said last week he does not think Shaw will play for the team before the tournament.
Meanwhile, Phil Jones made his comeback in Monday's 1-1 under-21 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Jones, who has been out for three months, played in central defence for 75 minutes before being substituted.
The 24-year-old has been picked for every England squad he has been fit for since the last World Cup.

Jose Mourinho demands written promise from Manchester United that he will be manager in summer
Special One is sweating over Old Trafford future after Fergie publicly backed LVG

TWITCHY Jose Mourinho wants a written promise from Manchester United that he will be their new manager this summer.
The Special One has a verbal assurance that will be the case.

But Alex Ferguson publicly backed current boss Louis van Gaal last week, leaving the Mourinho camp fearing things could change.
That is why he wants the job offer in writing, so he can start planning a future at Old Trafford.

I figure it will be bore draw at white hart lane. Against Kane and Ali, the pace of Spurs is ferocious. Man utd won't be able to cope. A draw will be lucky which puts us further away from 4 th spot. Moreover Spurs still have fighting chance to overhaul Leicester , so they will be more motivated.

Then we will draw again at Hammers - not sure if it will be penalty or away goal. But we will exit the FA cup, setting the stage nicely for LVG to be sacked.

Can't see United qualifying for CL. Yup ,Hammers, Spurs and Palace games are the difficult ones. The season is over where United is concerned.

If Woodward have his way, LVG will be gone at the end of the season. The board of directors however is split on who should take over the hot seat. I'll bet my house that Sir Bobby Charlton is dead set against the appointment of Mou. SAF is NOT against Mou's appointment. He understands the difficulty LVG has had with the long list of injuries. He's been there. Perhaps the gesture of renaming the stand after Charlton was a way to placate the old sod and a harbinger of what is to come.

As far as Woodward is concerned if LVG fails to meet his KPI-qualification for CL is a MUST among others then he would have no qualms about sacking the manager. When your main sponsor Adidas makes a hardly flattering comment about the club, you know that trouble is around the corner. The tricky part is to balance the commercial interest and the needs of the club.

Methinks Mou will come and he has no reason to accept any job outside the PL. The best managers are in the PL with the arrival of Conte, Pep and Klopp. It doesn't get more competitive than this.:D

The mistake Ed Woodward made was the interview he had with some of the senior players, power inevitably shifts from the manager to the players. You either back the manager or sack him. Haven't we learned anything from the Chelsea fiasco.

My wishlist for next season whoever takes on the managerial task:

1. Cull the non performers. Top of my list Jones.
2.Move Warren Joyce up as assistant manager alongside Giggs.
3. Appoint a technical director.
4. Renew M. Carrick's contract.
5. Ship Roon out to China.:D

You both are not off the mark, aligned with BBC sports pundits. :(

Can't disagree on culling jiak liao bees. But beg to differ on Carrick, seen better days (Spurs?) and now end of shelf life.
A midfielder asked to shore up rear, and got substituted in last match. Can't recall his last brilliant do, no pace (and daresay negative passes).
Some optimistic talk of extending 1 year

What has Lawro been smoking??!!There will be a clear out at City but they've been given huge incentives to finish top 4, Pellegrini included. It's a pity he was given notice in the middle of the season but like a true professional that he is, I reckon he'll do his best to deliver. A big bonus awaits as a parting gift to him. Great manager!!!!!:D

There is another angle - Ryan Giggs. What to do w him ? Promote him to take over LVG ? Another manager means he will leave - which might be a blessing. Go get a few Seasons under your belt n take over Man U one day.

Truth be told, do not believe Giggsy's included in the equation. Other than caretaker role before LVG, we need real presence and standing (charisma is you will). Especially with peers like Pep, Conte in competition.

It depends on the club's ambition. If it's just CL qualification, I reckon Giggs will do reasonably well.Managing Utd goes beyond the fulfilling weekend fixtures. It's everything related to football at MUFC. Then it begs the question whether he'd be able to attract talent, from the seniors right down to young talented kids. The short and brutal answer to that is NO.

The sad thing is Giggs has never made known his ambition to Ferguson, otherwise it would have been a lot easier. IMHO, with so many potential young players coming on, we'll need someone with the aura and persona of Fergie to ensure that these players keep their feet on the ground. If it's REAL, you'd probably look for a manager who knows how to massage the egos of the players. It's more situational.

Methinks Giggs will only be as good as an assistant manager. Just look at all of Fergie's AM-Brian Kidd, McLaren, Queiroz. I hope I'm wrong about Giggs.....

I am very confused now. So Mourinho will be the next manager or Van Gaal will remain?

If and it's a BIG IF United qualify for CL, they'd allow him to see through his 3 year contract. The possibility of a sacking is real which is the reason why the Dutch FA offered him a technical director position as a face saving exit from the club. Yes, MUFC did make contact with Mourinho. We'll just have to wait for the drama to unfold in the next few weeks......

New twist to LVG's fate :p

Louis van Gaal's Manchester United future takes a new twist after he turns down Dutch FA job

Louis van Gaal has turned down an offer from the Dutch FA to become their director of football.
But the United manager's decision not to take up the role in the Netherlands does not necessarily mean he is staying on at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as Netherlands coach guiding them to third place at the finals.
He returned from South America to officially take charge at United as David Moyes' successor on a three year deal.
While Van Gaal has had a fraught time in England the Netherlands have also suffered on the international stage since his departure for Old Trafford.

Danny Blind's side were shock fallers in the Euro 2016 qualifiers and won't be in France for the summer tournament.
The Dutch FA believed LVG could help reinvigorate the set up and restore Holland's credibility. The Netherlands' top brass created the creator of football for Van Gaal and offered him the post.
But during the international break from his United duties it is understood that the Reds boss turned down the opportunity.
It will fuel stories that the 64-year-old will be given the green light to go ahead and complete his three-year contract at Old Trafford.

Stories emerging from the Netherlands this week have suggested that despite another erratic season the Reds are ready to stick with their man.
This despite the strong speculation that Jose Mourinho is lined up as his replacement in the summer.
It is understood that Van Gaal has not heard from the United board about his future and has received no assurances that he will be staying on.

The Reds are back in the hunt for the battle for the Champions League top four places after back-to-back wins against City and Everton and have an FA Cup quarter final replay next Wednesday against West Ham at Upton Park to keep the Wembley dreams alive.

It is believed that Van Gaal is confident about his future but realistically knows that if the end to the season collapses then he could be on thin ice and might even offer to go if he doesn't feel he has fulfilled his obligations as United manager by achieving the top four again and, or, lifting silverware in the FA Cup.

Man United favourites to land Zlatan Ibrahimovic… but this one thing will be deal breaker

MANCHESTER UNITED are winning the race to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

According to Bet Victor, the Red Devils are 2-1 favourites to sign the big Swede on a free transfer when he leaves Paris St-Germain in the summer.
The Independent report that Louis van Gaal's side must finish in the top four to have a chance of securing his signature.

LVG obviously feels that top 4 is still achievable. I believe the Dutch FA will keep the door open.:D

Zlatan is rubbish!!!! We dun need retirees.

I expect Basti to call time on his career after his recovery. We're left with the underperforming Schneiderlin and Carrick who will be 35 next season. Either they buy in or fast track Fosu Mensah for that role.
