Manchester United 2013/2014

RDM got sacked because the results were going downhill in the middle of the season, nothing to do with 'player power politics' as you have insinuated. Abramovich never wanted RDM to be the manager but had to relent because he won the Champions League.

Posted earlier on this issue. Not going to repeat it on a Man U thread. Are you a Chelsea fan? Here's one for you- GO GUNNERS GO!:D

Man Utd chief Woodward meets with Rooney agent over new contract talks

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has met with the agent of Wayne Rooney over new contract talks.

The Daily Mail says Rooney, who has 18 months left to run on his contract, has attracted interest from Chelsea and Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The forward's agent Paul Stretford was at United's Carrington training base on Wednesday before returning on Thursday morning to hold further discussions, with Rooney's Old Trafford future topping the agenda.

United have no interest in listening to offers for their star man in the summer.

Moyes in Germany. Looks like Kagawa may go.

He's not there to sell Kagawa.
He's there to scout Patrick Hermann and Max Kruse of Borussia Monchengladbach who are playing Bayern Munich later. ;)

A player plus cash deal could be on the cards before the transfer window closes. Carrick is out for a month. Dun count on tofu legs to remain injury free.

He should go for someone like Rakitic of Sevilla, who is at best Europa league bound.
Kruse and Hermann have a better chance of playing champions league football next season where they are now.:D

Man Utd doesn't have good talent scouts? Why does Moyes have to personally go and scout?

Or is he using the opportunity to get away from Old Trafford, to jiat hong and destress himself? ;)

They're trying to sell Nani to raise 15 million pounds. So far Juve seems to be the only club interested but looking at a value not more than 10 million. Anderson's move is a loan with the option to buy but it will be a token amount, not more than 5 million pounds. If he doesn't satisfy his new employers he'll be back at OT six months time.Hernandez wants to leave and a price tag of 10million pounds has been bandied around the player.

The best case scenario, the club manages to raise 30 million pounds. That is not even enough to cover the cost of Mata Lets assume they raise 25 million pounds from gate receipts plus 10-15 million pounds from commercial endorsements. Less administrative cost-wages and what have you,we'll have a ball park figure of 30 million pounds ++(trophy less season). Less 7 million to pay off outstanding debt on Mata, we'll left with 23 million pounds. Moyes is likely to go for Baines in the summer and we'll have nothing left in the kitty.

It appears that the only way forward is a player for player plus cash swap. Unless Sevilla has interest in one of Utd's player, I can't see it happening. Dortmund is keen to take Kagawa back and an Italian club is reported to be interested in Hernandez, again this is a player for player plus cash switch. We may end up with players we dun really want. What a fine mess we're in!

IMO, they'll need to raise ticket prices or sell one of our prized assets. If Roon doesn't commit by summer, the club will likely sell him. It really makes no sense whatsoever to sell a further 3-4 players just to buy one 'quality' player. They'll have a huge problem making the numbers for the 2014/15 season.

When he was spotted in the stadium watching Juventus play and probably scouting Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio, he claimed to reporters that he was in Italy "on holiday".:D

Good analysis.
All these are things that the investment banker turned "football guru" Woodward will have to figure out, because I can bet you Mousey won't understand the numbers.
We can only observe and hope for the best.
Obviously Mousey and his team of "brilliant" coaches and scouts are not lurking in this forum, otherwise they would have taken your advice last summer and got Strootman from PSV for a reasonable 15 million pounds, and they would be making another jiakhong trip to Sevilla this weekend. ;)

espnsoccernet.com reported that the Daily Mail reported that Mousey was spotted talking to Tonis Kroos' agent. :D

Well done Man Utd fans... spent a fortune to buy a Chelsea substitute. ;)

Ferguson, Gill took charge of Man Utd negotiations for Mata

Sir Alex Ferguson and former Manchester United chief executive David Gill helped the club land Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata, it has been revealed.

The Sunday Express says former boss Ferguson and ex-chief executive Gill spearheaded hush hush talks to secure Mata while attending last Sunday’s Premier League clash with Jose Mourinho’s side at Stamford Bridge.

Once manager David Moyes had approved the move for the Spaniard Ferguson and Gill swept into action using their contacts to seal a deal before leaving West London.

Gill’s successor Ed Woodward has confessed some naivety over last summer’s signings strategy and was happy to stand back and allow Ferguson and Gill to open some doors over Mata.
