Preview of tonight's away CL game vs Real Sociedad

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24809287

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP A
Venue: Anoeta StadiumDate: Tuesday, 5 NovemberKick-off: 1945 GMT

Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live

Manchester United will be without defenders Jonny Evans and Rafael when they take on Real Sociedad in Spain.

Evans, 25, has a back injury while 23-year-old Rafael is absent with an ankle problem.

Midfielder Tom Cleverley has made the trip to San Sebastian despite suffering double vision at Fulham.

Man Utd's Group A results
23 Oct: H v Sociedad 1-0
02 Oct: A v Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1
17 Sept: H v Bayer Leverkusen 4-2

The 24-year-old England international went off during Saturday's 3-1 win at Craven Cottage but trained before the team flew to Spain on Monday.

"We haven't had a lot of injuries," said Manchester United manager David Moyes.

"I think it's the best Manchester United have been in that respect for a while. But we did pick up three on Saturday, which is very rare - especially by half-time.

"Two of them haven't travelled - Jonny Evans and Rafael - so they're not with us."

United top Group A with seven points from three games, while Sociedad are bottom and without a point.

"I won't take anything for granted," added Moyes.

"I have a lot of respect for Sociedad. We have to play well if we're going to get those 10 points, which will get us over the line. We've got ourselves into a good position in the group and we have to try to maintain that.

"I think our experienced players have shown they're used to the Champions League."

Manchester United's famous class of '92 has been immortalised on film.

Six of Sir Alex Ferguson's fledglings, who would graduate from the youth team and launch glittering careers at Old Trafford , will star in a movie which will be released in December.

Titled The Class of '92 it chronicles the rises of David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Phil and Gary Neville.

Starting in 1992 it charts a remarkable period to 1999 that saw each establish themselves in some of United's greatest ever squads - and eventually lift the European Cup.

As well as interviews with each player other famous names including Reds' legend Eric Cantona, United-mad Stone Roses bassist Mani and Olympic Opening Ceremony king Danny Boyle.

The M.E.N. carried this picture in July of the footballers snapped in Manchester wearing the same clothes they appear in on the cover of the DVD

Did you all catch his stamp on 18 year old Januzai in last sat match?

Sascha Riether charged by the FA after 'stamp' on Adnan Januzaj
Fulham's Sascha Riether has become the first player to be charged under a new retrospective action scheme.

The defender, 30, appeared to stamp on Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj in Fulham's 3-1 loss, but match officials did not see the incident.

Under the new rules, a three-man panel of former elite referees looked at the incident and advised Reither committed an act of violent conduct.

Riether has until 1800 GMT on 5 November to respond to the charge.

Previously retrospective action could previously only be taken when one of the officials had seen it or in exceptional circumstances.

But the new scheme was introduced after Wigan's Callum McManaman escaped punishment for a dangerous tackle on Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara last season.

"For an FA charge to follow all three panel members must agree it is a sending-off offence," the FA said. "In this instance, the panel were of the unanimous decision that it was an act of violent conduct."

Massadio Haidara said the decision not to punish Callum McManaman for this challenge last season was "ridiculous"
Speaking before being made aware of the FA charge, United manager David Moyes called for more protection for his 18-year-old winger.

He said: "It is a bad stamp and it does look deliberate.

"I do think Adnan is going to need a little bit of protection or we are going to find that he is getting kicked up and down. It is not a case of asking for protection.

"We are just saying that somewhere along the line, people will need to let the boy, if he is going to keep playing in the fashion and style we want, he is going to have to get some protection from it."

Manchester United eye Chelsea target Alberto Moreno to replace Patrice Evra
SEVILLA'S Alberto Moreno is the latest candidate to replace Patrice Evra at Manchester United.
By: Ben JeffersonPublished: Wed, November 6, 2013

Reports in Spain suggest that 21-year-old Moreno, who recently made his debut for the Spanish national team, is on United's radar as they look to replace the Frenchman.

According to Estadio Deportivo United are ready to compete with Real Madrid and Chelsea to sign Moreno.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has already stated that Moreno will not be allowed to leave unless someone meets his £25m release clause, and United are trying to decide if such a fee represents good value.

Alberto Moreno has a £25m release clause at Sevilla. Reports suggest that United will have money to spend in January, with the Spanish paper suggesting that moves for Real Sociedad's Antoine Griezmann and Porto pair Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi are also on the cards.

With Evra fully expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer, United were expected to rekindle their interest in Everton's Leighton Baines, but at 28 years old, doubts remain about whether the England international is the long term solution, particularly given the fee that the Toffees will demand.

It seems therefore that United are considering alternative options ahead of the January transfer window, with Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao and Saint Etienne's Faouzi Ghoulam both thought to remain on Moyes' watchlist.

Champions may try again for the Real Madrid and Germany midfielder they missed out on in the summer window

Champions United are keeping tabs on the Germany international, as manager David Moyes plans to strengthen his midfield options in January.

Moyes sent assistant coach Phil Neville to watch Khedira in action in the Bernabeu side's thrilling 7-3 home win over Sevilla last week.

United made a late, but ultimately unsuccessful, move for the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Preview of tomorrow's home big 1 vs gunners. Gunners form sizzling these says, so be wary. Pundits mostly predicting gunners win even in own backyard

Manchester United may be without Rafael, who has an ankle problem.
Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick may return after respective back and calf problems, but Danny Welbeck is still out with a knee injury.

Arsenal are confident Mathieu Flamini will be fit despite a recent groin problem, while Jack Wilshere's ankle injury will be assessed. Theo Walcott, Yaya Sanogo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski and Abou Diaby all remain sidelined by injury.

MATCH PREVIEW
Sunday marks the 142nd anniversary of one of history's most famous meetings. It didn't take place at Old Trafford, but 4,400 miles away on Lake Tanganyika.
New York journalist Henry Stanley walked out of the jungle and greeted a Scottish medical missionary with the now famous words: "Dr Livingstone, I presume?"

LAWRO'S PREDICTION
Mark Lawrenson, Football analyst
"Manchester United have improved a lot of late too, but I still think their manager David Moyes will be a little bit cautious and try to make sure they don't get beaten.

"If Arsenal go there and win - something they have done a lot of on their travels recently - then Moyes is back to square one."

Another Scot is on a mission these days. David Moyes is trying to rediscover the lost soul of Manchester United.
One minute he must think he's found the source of power that took his predecessor to 13 titles, the next moment he knows more work is needed to rekindle that burning fire of old.

But improvement is being made. They are unbeaten in eight matches. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have 16 goals between them.

Rooney has scored 12 league and cup goals against the Gunners, including a hat-trick in the 8-2 hammering of 2011. He was also accused of diving to win a penalty in the infamous "Pizzagate" clash that ended the Arsenal Invincibles' unbeaten run of 49 games in 2004.

The previous year, Martin Keown and Ruud van Nistelrooy had sparked a nasty confrontation. It's been ugly. It's been beautiful.

Few will forget Ryan Giggs' legendary FA Cup semi-final goal in 1999. It took the Double away from London to Manchester, setting up United for their famous Champions League victory and changing the course of football history.

This current Arsenal side are also good enough to become European champions, according to Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp. The Gunners are balanced, stylish, full of goals and more secure at the back.
They were excellent in beating Liverpool but this will be the acid test.

United have flunked their big tests so far against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. Another defeat would leave them 11 points behind the Gunners and the title would be gone.

But I can't see them scoring enough to win a tight game. The movement of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla will create something special. I'll take one of them to net in a 1-1 draw, proving Arsenal's title credentials are solid.
However, a home victory would mean we recognise an old force emerging again - "United, I presume?"

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
The Red Devils have lost just one of their last 12 league and cup games against the Gunners (W9, D2, L1).
This will be Arsene Wenger's 50th game against United as Arsenal manager. He has won 15 of the previous 49 (excluding penalty shoot-outs).

Manchester United
The Red Devils have won back-to-back Premier League games for the first time under manager David Moyes.
Fourteen of United's last 19 league goals have been scored or assisted by Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney.
Patrice Evra will become the third Frenchman to make 250 Premier League appearances, following in the footsteps of Arsenal duo Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.

Arsenal
Victory would give Arsenal their highest ever points tally after 11 Premier League matches.
Arsenal are the only Premier League club to have scored in every game this season. The last team to shut-out the Gunners was David Moyes' Everton in a 0-0 draw at the Emirates on 16 April.
Prior to this weekend, only five players had assisted four or more Premier League goals this season - and three of them were Arsenal players (Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey).

Ramsey has 11 goals in 17 league and cup games for Arsenal this term, and 13 in 21 for club and country.
Arsene Wenger has registered 14 Premier League victories against Moyes - his highest tally against any manager.
