SINGAPORE: After allegedly snatching S$10 from a taxi driver, a man could now face up to 14 years' jail and no less than 12 strokes of the cane if convicted of robbery.
The 39-year-old man was arrested at noon on Friday (June 27) at Clementi Avenue 5.
He had boarded a taxi at West Coast Road at 9:45pm the night before. Upon reaching his destination at Yung Sheng Road in Jurong, he reportedly stole the money from the 34-year-old taxi driver's shirt pocket before alighting.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday. - CNA/do
