Two of Singapore’s largest property companies reported a mixed set of results Wednesday, as high interest rates and a global real estate slowdown weighed on performance in the first half.

One of the world’s largest real estate investment managers, CapitaLand Investment Ltd., saw a 6% drop in net income to S$331 million ($251 million) from a year earlier, despite returning to the black after a S$170 million loss in the second half of last year. Revenue edged up slightly to S$1.37 billion.

Cecilia Kwek, the wife of Kwek Leng Beng and mother of Sherman Kwek, did not mince her words in her first public comments on the incident. “It hurt my husband, it hurt my elder son, it hurt me. It was a big letdown,” she said.

Mr Kwek Leng Peck was right and he was the prudent one.

It's always like that. The extended family risk being ruined when daughter-in-laws start to get involved, and wash their dirty linen in public to defend their kids.

Everyone is trying to get out China. The rich man are trying to get out of China. The poor man are also trying to get out China.

Only CDL wants to go in. These f***** is rich. Daddy's money is okay.

When all the rich men try together something is wrong. There will be no spending power in the vast market. Plus no one is hiring and there's no way people will go to mall and shop. They don't have a f****** job. The housing liability is having a very negative impact on the consumer spending.

2023 their properties meltdown
2024 their service sector and job market meltdown
2025 their manufacturing will meltdown

China's factory went into overdrive and sent so much cargo across the pacific this year (up to now) before Biden's new tariffs start. In a way, the upcoming US-tariff created artificial demand and minimized the PMI's decline in 2024.

Soon, US warehouses will be filled to the brim and cause manufacturing to crash in China.
