Pls support this page if you are against the toll hike. Thank u

Car drivers too can do a "legal strike" by emptying your TnG card and drive up to the non TnG topup CIQ counter and then park your car there and take your time to go to the TnG card top up counters and top up just $10 enough to pass the toll. If every time and everyone does that for your toll clearance, you will create a very massive jam across the Malaysia CIQ during peak hours.

The excuse u give is u haven't got the habit to pay for toll charges at CIQ exiting towards woodland or you can't afford to top up your card for more than $10.

Despite the toll hike, massive jam at Spore Immigration (@ entry to JB).

Woah.... Hike in tolls no diff liao.

Good one.

Really good.:D

Singapore to match Johor's new Causeway tolls 'in next few weeks': LTA

SINGAPORE - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) currently imposes separate lower tolls for vehicles going from Singapore to Johor, but none for when they return. When Singapore matches Malaysia's rates, cars making a round-trip can expect to pay a total of about $12.90 in tolls, up from the current $7.60, and more than five times the $2.30 before August 1.

Below is statement released today by LTA in response to Malaysia's Causeway toll hike:

Malaysia's New Causeway Toll Charges

In response to media queries, a Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesperson noted that Malaysia has increased toll charges for all vehicles, except motorcycles, travelling from Singapore to Johor through the Causeway, as well as introduced a new Causeway toll for all vehicles travelling from Johor to Singapore, both with effect from today, Aug 1, 2014.

LTA understands that these Causeway toll changes are different from Malaysia's earlier announcement to impose an entry fee on foreign-registered vehicles entering Johor.

The spokesperson reiterated that Singapore has a long-standing policy of matching our toll charges at the Causeway and Second Link to those set by Malaysia, and that Malaysia is aware of this policy. The Singapore Government will thus match Malaysia's new toll charges in the next few weeks. As details of Malaysia's toll revisions were not made known to Singapore earlier, LTA would need some time to operationalise the changes.

The LTA spokesperson noted that the media had reported that the Malaysian authorities would be reviewing the tolls. He confirmed that should Malaysia reduce or do away with the toll charges, Singapore will follow suit.

Singapore's Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) Fees, and Malaysia's New Causeway Toll Charges

The LTA spokesperson observed that Singapore's VEP and GVP fees are different from Malaysia's Causeway toll charges.

VEP and GVP fees are not intended as revenue generators or to charge vehicles for the usage of the Causeway, Second Link or other roads. Instead, they seek to equalise the cost of owning and using a foreign-registered vehicle in Singapore, with that for a Singapore-registered vehicle.. The LTA spokesperson also explained that the need to revise Singapore's VEP and GVP fees arose from the fact that this cost difference has widened in recent years.

Based on 2013 data, the VEP fee increase will only affect about one in ten foreign-registered cars. Other foreign-registered cars will not be affected as they enter and stay in Singapore on VEP-free days or during VEP-free hours.

Buses, taxis and motorcycles are not affected by the increase in Singapore's VEP and GVP fees.

in due course sg will do it.
i guess now still waiting for official answers if possible,
otherwise until jb stabilized their charges.

A very frustrating experience when we think of the high tolls imposed by JB without good reasons. And very apprehensive of the coming match-up by LTA! Once that kicks in, it's "triple" whammy and we should be better off not to visit JB on our whims and fancy anymore. The ruling politicians seem to think that all's well with the increases and do not appreciate that Singaporeans visiting JB have spent on their businesses and ultimately improve the well-being of Johor residents.

Not intended to be revenue generators but yet have the same effect of generating revenue. Politician talking in politically correct terms?

This afternoon, driving from Woodlands checkpoint to JB CIQ, including immigration clearance takes only 5 mins, and on a Saturday afternoon!!!
There were no traffic on both sides of the causeway, it was a non stop drive thru all the way.

Good, boycott JB for the moment. Let them know the impact of the increase.

That is a good signal to the businesses, Iskandar and the ruling politicians who think that the opposition MPs are making noise for nothing.....Let their people complain and be heard. They tend to forget that we need each other and there were good reasons for the moderated Singapore increase where there are windows through which Malaysian vehicles could pass through without paying for the increase.

I cannot agree with you more especially the weekends when all the businesses in JB are expecting us. They must complain and bring it up to the ruling politicians. The opposition said their piece and was branded pro Singaporeans!

Good to have those tolls or vep hikes.

Should pose not much financial burden on those msians permit holders who commute daily to spore. Busok busok also take home pay M$5000 min per mth for wp. As for S-pass lagi no problem. As for EP holder most r drawg M$10000 min per mth. So those changes in tolls n vep hikes r peanuts to them lah

yeah la.

Dunno how LTA will face up to that or even if they are able to retaliate.

They dun wanna talk.

Maybe both just wanna blame each other and pocket the COOL revenue.

u never know govt to govt what is discussed

Unless they talk and come to a reasonable compromise, there is still the "Najib VEP strike" awaiting.
