They thought the maid stole stuff but the court finds insufficient evidence. That does not make him guilty of any crime.

He and his family members may have suspected that the maid stole a few items, but they were not very certain and or they were not able to prove it. They should have discussed this matter with the maid before filing a report with the police.
Based on what has been reported, there is a reasonable basis to believe that they had an ulterior motive.
Reviewing all of the reported facts, and how they made the maid worked extra hours, and the negligible amount they paid her, is more than sufficient evidence that the police should have recommended to the AGC mot to proceed to charge the maid or to proceed to trial.
Besides, the police should have engaged a competent interpreter to interview the maid.
It does not appear that the Singapore Police Force and the Attorney General Chambers have been doing their work properly as their usual efficient selves.

It may or may not be a crime, and the Attorney General Chambers has the sole discretion whether oe not to charge him.
But, I submit that an individual like LML whose reputation and station in life, and whatever he espouses re: Sunday emails from the CEO, he should held to the highest professional conduct and standard. If he has committed anything that is immoral, crime or otherwise, any judge should consider imposing the maximum jail term.
