Liang Court is now a retail graveyard.

Meanwhile, further upstream of the river, Great World City is doing okay.

Unfortunately no. The whole place is now under renovation and turned into another Capitaland mall. The tenant there tell me the new management poached from Capitaland wanted to raise rents after renovation by 80% so they had no choice but to leave once the current lease expire.

It's still livelier than the virtually dead Liang Court. There's also a Meidi ya at the basement of Great World City.

Did you fuck them inside the Van Kleef Aquarium?

It definitely will be based on what I see. I mean it's basically following exactly Capitaland and Frasers style, so it will generate huge crowds just like any of their malls. I was just feeling a bit sad that yet another mall "bites the dust". :-(

Time to buy CapitaLand REITs. The secret is to populate it with tuition centres and the mall will come to life.

Breadtalk/Toast Box

OCBC/POSB

McDonalds/KFC

Harvey Norman/Best Denki

NTUC Fairprice/Cold Storage

And their recent new favourite: Hawker Chan. Something that is sold for $2.80 (formerly $2) at the Chinatown hawker stall gets sold for $6 at the restaurant.

If I am CapitaLand lease department I will lease out the 3rd or 4th level to massage parlours and health centers. The rest to tuition centre. For sure I get all round business.

And ban all anti-vice police personnel at the entrance with facial recognition and biometrics.

Have heavily armed guards on standby. If anti-vice poodles managed to sneak inside, they won't be able to make it out of the building alive.

Liang Court is bought over by somebody and awaiting revamp

Indeed, the renovation at GWC has been going on for quite a while. Din Tai Fung opened an outlet earlier this year, formerly UOB.

A part of the River Valley Green road leading to the mall is also undergoing construction.

Expect many changes leading up to the opening of the MRT station.

Long long time ago, I was advisor with the Main Contractor building Liang Court.

Reading this made me feel sad enough. To go to Liang Court on Saturday.
I had not been there for maybe 30 years as much of the time I not even in Singapore.
But I remembered Liang Court in its heydays and eating at the Japanese restaurants there.

And yes, depressing to see Liang Court a pale shadow of what I remembered it to be.
So many areas being shuttered.
And hardly anyone about, even on Saturday.:cry::cry:

Once Kinokuniya closed down there's hardly any reason to visit Liang Court.

I like the vintage malls, lots of skylights for natural lighting to pass through. No distractions.

Compare this with the new Funan.
