It is not the PAP's job to worry about peasants. Those at the bottom of the heap play no part in making Singapore tick. Pandering to their constant whining would mean going down the populist route which would be disastrous.

The PAP concentrates its efforts on making sure that the upper echelons of society and foreign talent are well served and rightly so too!

It is this class of society that can make or break Singapore. It is therefore very important that the needs of the rich and successful, regardless of nationality, are fully met.

Sorry you are quite wrong.

PAP looks after one clan,that is all,that makes their lives very easy,but they do spend lots of time thinking of how to fix their opponents,and hence those white hair.

Upper echelons,FTs,those are beri simple,handled by peanuts($$$)alone,and PAP used to have hundreds of billion of them.

But frankly it is quite doubtful whether those are still there,the billions,we know not.

Sorry that I am duty bound to correct yr wrong perception,this shows that a very brilliant guy can only be right about 90% of the time,and not 100% all the time as claimed by one wiseman.

Unfortunately or fortunately, it is the responsibility of the government to take care of the peasants because of social security- to ensure there's no or little chaos or anger that may arise. Because if there's a big enough number of unhappy, disenfranchised people, most of the time, these will group together, gather strength and in time, might even overthrow the government.

Just look back at the long annals of Chinese history during the Imperial age, and ask yourself how these dynasties end.

To say that the upper middle classes and the rich will be better off by just ignoring the problem, and sweeping things under the carpet is, in my opinion, repeating the mistakes of previous generations in every other culture, not just our chinese one.

So how can one say that by ignoring the problem makes us better? That by ignoring the problem, somehow it sorts itself out? That by ignoring the problem, it will somehow disappear? I think that's only folly and repeating the mistakes of the past.

And if the PAP continues like this, then it only proves that they are human and that there will be a limit to their reign in Singapore. They will repeat the mistakes of the past, and will lose their power because of it. Its only a matter of time.
