LHL: S'poreans are top priority

I have this nagging feeling that LHL is really counter attacking my post about "Singaporeans have lowest priority in HDB rental flats policy". ;)

Pure coincidence maybe but in the last GE 2006, I used the phrase "Leave no men behind" and LHL just used exactly the same phrase in his National Day speech that year. Interesting. ;)

Singaporeans are always in the top priority. PM Lee is re-emphasize that the PAP government is always there for the people whether it is during hard times or good times. Together the great PAP government and the smart people whom have voted for the capable government, Singapore will strive for further success and progress. 3 cheers. :)

In the next few years, you will see the change-of-leadership.. change of perspectives. The days of FEAR are long gone.. You can witness engaging Sporean slowly emerging.. I believe every Singaporean will do their best for the great fight - the great election.

I sincerely hope your million dollar leaders can save more money/salary for the raining dayz.. coz their ass will be kicked hard in the next election..

SINGAPOREANS are top priority for the Government, which will aim to grow the economy in a way that allows all citizens to share in the benefits, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in his New Year message for 2010.
It will do this in two ways: by growing Singapore's external wing, and raising per capita income by boosting the skills level of workers.
At the same time, the Government will also 'manage and moderate' the inflow of foreign workers so that Singaporeans are not overwhelmed by the sheer numbers, he said.
In his seven-page message released on Thursday, PM Lee also gave figures on how the economy had performed in the fourth quarter and on a whole last year. Quarter on quarter, the Singapore economy grew by 3.5 per cent from October to December. This is markedly below the 14.2 per cent achieved between July and September, and the 21.7 per cent between April and June.
The slowdown in the last quarter is, however, in line with economists' expectations, who have anticipated that after two straight quarters of strong growth, a slump in the volatile biomedicals segment would drag down the fourth quarter figure.
Year-on-year, the Singapore economy was in negative territory for 2009, at -2.1 per cent. The forecast for next year is growth of 3 to 5 per cent.

YOUR PROMISES TURNS LIES AFTER THE ELECTION!!!

Soon when you announce polling day forumers will post your shenanigans before and after elections.

If LHL continues to talk like Singaporeans are morons, I doubt he has any future and better leave this country for the good of everyone instead of being a trouble maker with his words.

If the PM have to say that Singaporeans come first, just means that many Singaporeans strongly feel that they are not the government's top priority.

In fact after the 2006 election, where the PM was given his mandate on the campaign slogan of "Staying together and moving ahead", foreign talents seems to be the Singapore government top priority. After 3 years, Singaporeans finally understood the meaning of his campaign slogan: More foreign talents staying together in various enclaves, and moving ahead of Singaporeans.

If the past 3 years of the PM's track record is his idea of Singaporeans coming first, I shudder to think once the election is over what it means for Singaporeans to "payback" for having to trouble the PM put Singaporeans on as his top priority.

After the election, he will not only fix opposition but start fixing Singaporeans.

MM: S'pore won't be squeezed out by rising China

Instead, S'pore must maintain its competitiveness and ability to provide value-added services to China. -myp

SHOULD China become a world power in 50 or 60 years, Singapore will not be squeezed out, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

Asked in a dialogue to mark the second anniversary of Business China - a non-profit organisation that helps Singaporeans study, work or do business in China - how Singapore should cope with a rising China, he said: "There's Japan, America, we can still live, doesn't mean we'll be squeezed out. We'll find our role in other ways."

In the face of a rising China, Singapore must maintain its competitiveness and ability to provide value-added services to China, he said.

This would help it continue to be involved successfully in China projects, such as the Tianjin Eco-City and Suzhou Industrial Park.

A key sustainer of Singapore- China relationships will continue to be the large influx of Chinese immigrants that come to Singapore to work and stay, MM Lee added.

But even in the face of occasional friction in Singapore-China ties - for example, in 2004, when China expressed unhappiness over the visit of then deputy prime minister Lee Hsien Loong to Taiwan - Singapore has to retain its independent political position, MM Lee stressed.

He said: "For us to remain effective players in the world, we must have our point of view, and not be a satellite of America, Japan, China...we're not going to be in anybody's pocket.

"If every time we parrot China or American lines, we're written off."

In the dialogue, MM Lee was also asked to comment on the recent climate talks in Copenhagen, regarded by some to be a failure because of China's refusal to commit to carbon-emission reductions.

While China, like other big countries, refused to commit to percentage cuts, it is taking its contribution to global warming seriously, as evidenced by its efforts in investing in wind technology and the efficient use of coal, MM Lee said.

Seriously, can you trust the PM when the MM has made his stand.

I am not too hopeful of earth shaking results in the next GE, but one thing you can take to the bank is that the Ah Peks and Ah Sohs are grumbling about the effects of the PAP opening the doors to a FT invasion, especially that of the PRCs!

What is a PM? Is he the leader of this country? Should it not be the MM? It is Mentor before Prime isn't it?

How they feel about their priority status:

After raising the ire of some Singaporeans when Chinese actress Gong Li did not show up to collect her identity card in early Sep, her presence at last Saturday's citizenship ceremony has caused furore among Chinese netizens, in which a large handful unabashedly called her names and condemned her for foresaking her homeland.

He must be saying this because they have got word from the "ground" that there is dissatisfaction over this policy and may affect votes.
He thinks that he can be just like daddy, make a motherhood statement and all the coffee drinking uncles and 4d buying aunties will be nodding their heads sagely in agreement with their wisdom.
Perhaps he's right and they will listen and agree and believe. If that's the case, then Singaporeans' votes should be respected and they can all continue to wallow in their own misery.

Take note how the 154th and MPs only talk about low-salaried blue-collar FTs but they never mention the large number of FTs working in white-collar jobs. Go to almost any condo and you will see a large number of FTs. These FTs either share to rent an entire condo or are paid high enough to get the entire condo for themselves and their families.

The PAPies sold out to FTs even before GE2006.

Ass Loong is like the little kid who behaves badly throughout the year, but come Xmas (General Erection), he will sing like a choir boy to por Santa's (voters) LAN PAR!

He behaves like a spoilt brat, like Richie Rich ( remember the comics), and when Christmas, Lunar New Year is approaching, he suddenly remembers, the poor, hungry & downtrodden!! :p

Hi,

What do you think MBT has been doing all these years after loosing in Potong Pasir? Just look at the satisfaction on his face. I suspect he is not done yet. The more angry we are, the more shiok he feels. :D
