i don't think maggie would have approved. cant imagine her celebrating her 80th at downing st. its just not done in 1st world parliaments.....

Thatcher celebrated her 80th birthday at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hyde Park, London, on 13 October 2005; guests included the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Alexandra and Tony Blair. Geoffrey Howe, by then Lord Howe of Aberavon, was also present, and said of his former leader: "Her real triumph was to have transformed not just one party but two, so that when Labour did eventually return, the great bulk of Thatcherism was accepted as irreversible."

It was not a lavish party with pomp and ceremony. It's just a simple party with members of parliament and a simple birthday cake with a simple short speech - be honest and uncorrupted in governance. No special guests. No special elaborations. No special effects.
Just a simple home-coming celebration of a 90 year old elderly statesman.

What is all this fuss about? Why flap and fret over such a humble and simple celebration? All these flutter and flurry are unnecessary to say the least...

yes kopi. u are the best

What pisses me isnt the birthday celebration thing.

It is the absence of mps attending parliament. It was quoted in the press that very few mps were there.
And they only showed up at 4pm for the birthday celebration!

We already know, got makan & can have photo taken & later, hang on the wall to haolian, the turn up,what is new??. Same with all the RC's... what is new??

If old fart is smart enough,to avoid being accused of abuse of power ,he should have held his 90 yo birthday party at the HDB void deck.Of course the first criteria must be FOC,it would be too painful for him to pay out from his own pocket.

A soldier uses a Land-Rower and sents his child to school.

A policeman use the vehicle and sends his father to hospital.

All this are classfed as "Abuse of Power".

LKY holds birthday bash in Parliament with his PM son and colleagues.

Electricity, water and other resources used. Tax-payers money.............isn't it?

Will the Clerk of Parliament initiate action.?

Will the AGC wake up and follow suit?

lianbeng thought he owns the Parliament?

Correction......not two decades, but since 1973 and the site on which the bungalow sits was selected by one wise Buddhist abbot who was a master of geomancy. That was probably the last job cos thereafter the abbot severed all ties with the old vindictive bastard.

Which bungalow are you referring too? Sri Tenasek inside Istana?
