This is true. However if you want to be an election candidate in future, the choice of bothering about your reputation is not yours. Of course he might have given up on standing. After all the gaffes, he has written himself off anyway.

Kenneth Jeyaretnam is an example of how a continuous string of online gaffes affected his election standing. "WP" and "Jeyaretnam" were synonymous with each other for decades. There is no other explanation as to why when we pit the "WP name" against the "Jeyaretnam name" in Punggol East, the gap was so wide.
