That is the inconvenient truth that the biased western pro-Ukraine media tries very hard to gloss over. The reality is that Russia felt seriously threatened by NATO through Ukraine's de facto membership and also its very pro-USA stance.
You'll be disappointed to know that our SAF soldiers, including reservist soldiers like many of us here, are brave and will fight to the bitter end.

This is EU membership. It's a country club with a long waiting list. The member states must be mad to fast track Ukraine's admission. Even before the Russians invaded, Ukraine was corrupt and poor as fuck.
Even Malaysia or Indonesia have better chances of joining the EU than Ukraine! LOL
