Is your car a guzzler ?

So ? I sll prefer to have a dialogue with fellow Singaporeans on this topic. If it's a common topic in real life, it's a topic befitting of this forum. And btw, this topic is not just about Camry.

You're behaving like PAP seeking to micro manage every topic in this forum.

U want a dialogue with a singaporean? Well, i am born and bred here. Sam Leong is wrong, u are not a twit, u are a fucking moron. If u have to ask how much a $160K Toyota Camry guzzles in petrol, than u cannot afford it. Unless you drive 50,000 km a year, the cost of petrol is not significantly superior to the overall cost of owning the car ie road tax, insurance, ERP, parking, depreciation, repairs, etc. And if you don't believe the figures for petrol consumption given out by Toyota, just remember that most of their numbers actually come from the EPA or some other govt, agencies. A car maker making false or misleading claims about its fuel consumption on a particular vehicle model is opening itself up to massive class action lawsuits as people make their purchases based on these numbers. Don't be a fucking idiot, if 10 different websites tell u this is the mileage, than it is what it is.

If you refer to one of those 'trusted' information given by one of those links provided, it says 12.5 litre per 100 km on average. That works out to be 8 km per litre !

My ex-Camry before this hybrid is a 2.4l model and gives me 7.5 km/l to 9 km/l. I understand from a customer of mine that the current model without hybrid is about the same.

A full tank on unleaded 95 cost me $110 b4 discount & get me going for ard 500km.

:p :p my 2.4l Camry hybrid comes with a smaller 65l tank about to make room for the batteries. This gives me 800km.

OMG...anyone that complains about the economy of a 2.0L normally aspirated car must be a real cheapo. Like Sam says, if have to worry about fuel economy, then better not to drive a car.

Either that or must be a lead-footed, tailgating, jackrabbiting menace on the road, that's why petrol burn so fast.

My Camry 2.4 Hybrid in Bangkok gives me 13km per litre on average and that is I am on the highway most of the time. .....

I was curious as to how difficult it is for an expat to operated a car in LOS:confused:

The road signs must be in Thai & if you are ever stopped by the police it must be difficult as they probably only understand thai. So how conversant with thai do you really need to be:confused:

If you want to drive, you should at least be able to speak thai. Or else, can't read road signs, at least know how to ask someone for directions :p

If ever stopped by police, prepare to bao ang pow. Police don't stop you for nothing. When the thai police stop you, it means they are hungry and want you to give them money for food. This is uniquely Thailand.

Cannot speak thai vs can speak thai, market rate price got difference. Cannot speak thai how to bargain?:D

A hybrid car cost more than a non-hybrid model.
A hybrid car's battery is at least a couple of thousands from what I heard.

Last time when honda civic first came out hybrid, went to showroom, talk to salesgal, promote until the car can fly. save petrol blah blah, then say run on batteries. When I ask her battery spoil how to change? She say special kind of battery have to bring back kah motors. Then she tell me no need change because battery can roughly last 10 years. I tell her thank you very much and walk out of the show room :D

Many road signs in Bangkok are in English so not a serious problem until you are out in the small provinces.

You may know that the monarchy here is highly revered and the king is also affectionately known as papa to the Thais. When you are stop by any police you no need to talk, just ask papa for help and he will surely help you.

His face is in all banknotes, show the police a couple of notes he will let you go for sure.

1000 papa note vs 300 papa note got difference if you know how to talk your way out. :D

Another thing is road signs are not adequate. And some of the words are tiny small at times. Last time what I did was to 1st take a taxi remember how they go, then subsequently drive to that destination.

Anyone who worries about fuel consumption should stick to Altis or Vios.
