lianbeng feels strongly that training must be realistic! during grenade throwing exercises they always use dummies that will never explode - no pulling of safety pin mah! they should train with live grenades so that people will know what it feels like pulling the safety pin and throwing the grenade, not the safety pin!

u must be from ancient generation. even in my time when i ord in the early 2000s, our dummy grenade drill u have to pull out the safety pin and the explosion is stimulated by a piak sound.

but this whole incident seriously i cannot figure out what happen. that idiot recuit must have hold the grenade wrongly, for if you hold it properly, there is no way this can happen. all my friends we were like how the hell did that champion did it, pull out the safety pin and the lever can goes off.

Having a mistake in throwing a grenade and having it land on your side is a big fucking mistake that will not only kill the blur fuck but probably most of your platoon too yet i am willing to bet this htolas is offended that the recruit who isn't chinese gets called a blur fuck for making such a big fuck up that 2 ppl need to be hospitalized. KNN, some of u in this forum claimed to be occifier yet all condemn the recruit for being a kan cheong spider. Tiu... As far as I am concern, the keling safety occificer screwed up. He should had seen the recruit didn't hold the grenade correctly in the first place. He ASSUMED the recruit know after the practice throw. If he wasn't injured and the recruit die, he should be hauled to DB. That why I always believe that occifiers posted to training centres ALL cannot make it.

That's why you have training to condition soldiers to be able to react under fire. If you sent a raw recruit to war, don't blame the recruit for not performing.

I think the safety officer did very well to save the recruit and himself, and I salute him. I don't think he could have done anything else to 'ensure' a safe throw, nor should he.

As for the recruit, I'm not blaming him either. Many things could have happened. As a parallel, just think of the number of times you dropped a cup, or dropped your cash card as you tried to slot it into the parking machine.

I always wondered about you. An extension of your logic is that SAF should have made the NCOs and the lower ranks Officers because they are capable and the Officers who were screened based on a number of attributes should be posted as lower ranks as they are incapable.

Honestly all of these reactions because of the race of the officer and indirectly that of the recruit. Sleaguepunter says the officer screwed up. Screwball is pissed. Why? Cos the officer isn't a chinese. Now if the officer in question here happened to be a chinese would screwball be pissed? You might not believe it but search in your heart of hearts you know what i am saying to be true. Screwball would not be offended by sleaguepunter's post if the officer was chinese.

Now look at Htolas post. Why is he so defensive? Cos the recruit that fucked up isn't chinese. Now if the recruit in question was a chinese and gets called a blurfuck would htolas even be offended and come out so defensively? I am willing to bet no fucking way.

So it happens both the recruit that screwed up and the officer that saved him aren't chinese. Now what does this mean? It means you cannot condemn both of them. Period.

Now if both the recruit and the officer were chinese what would the reaction be? Officer just gets a passing nod and recruit gets condemned to hell and yes screwball wouldn't come out if the officer was condemned cos he's a chinese.

Now if the recruit was a non chinese and the officer was a chinese what would the reaction be? Racist to call recruit a blur fuck. Perfectly fine to condemn the officer.

2nd Lt Tay Siow Kai was the arty officer conducting a live grenade throwing exercise and he died when the recruit refuses to throw the grenade. Took the grenade to throw it outside the bunker but it exploded in his hand. He died of severe multiple wounds but the recruit survive with slight injuries as the officer's body took the brunt of the explosion. He was from Taman Jurong Arty Camp.

REally brave officer salute him for that yet cos he's chinese he's just forgotten.
