1) Competition from QB House, EC House and CB House etc. (even these '10 min House' barbers are victims to #2...)
2) Aggressive barber price cutting war from Snip Avenue and other similar franchise barber shop-hair salon hybrids. You can't beat $2.80 for a haircut.
just realise those 2.80 to $3 + barber shops are crampy. it also smells very carcinogenic. ventilation is terrible!!

during the good old days when was a student, i actually dreaded going to the barber. he would cut ur hair really short. it looked more closely like botak with all the sides and back quite bare and a short crop on the head. surprisingly, this seems to be in style now.
