Serious Good grief! Prata in ICU

Mr Nathan already lived to a good old age of 92. At this juncture, I think it is hard for the family to accept his present condition, but they can take comfort in the fact that he has served Singapore well and will leave a legacy behind even if the worst were to come.

So, while we do not give up hope and certainly we hope for the best, we must be prepared for the reality that death, as it can happen to anyone, can come.

I didn't know they need family consent. So pinky is the dil?

The best day to celebrate to bid Prata farewell is on this 8 August and on 9 August NDP parade all wear black as mark of respect.

"but they can take comfort in the fact that he has served Singapore well". I think, instead, Singapore has served him well.

In Singapore, the powers that be runs the country like a business. It is for mutual benefits. It is not for charity.

Would the ministers or President want to do their job and do it well if they were not paid millions ?

SINGAPORE - Former president S R Nathan, who suffered a stroke on Sunday (July 31), remains critically ill and unconscious but he is restful and his vital signs are stable, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Mr Lee, who has just returned from Washington, DC, after an official visit to the United States, visited Mr Nathan at Singapore General Hospital on Friday (Aug 5).

Mr Lee said he also chatted with Mrs Nathan and the family.

"This is a difficult time for them," he wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. "The support and encouragement they have received from so many people means a lot to them. They have been touched by the many messages and good wishes."

He added: "Not many people have done as much for Singapore as Mr Nathan has. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. "

Visited Mr S R Nathan at SGH earlier. He remains critically ill and unconscious, but he is restful and his vital signs are currently stable. Grateful to the team of dedicated doctors and nurses for their attentive care.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Chan Chun Sing also said on Facebook that he visited Mr Nathan in hospital on Friday. He had been part of Singapore's delegation to Washington, DC.

"Thankful for the doctors and nurses who have been keeping a close watch on Mr Nathan's condition since. Also thankful for the many friends and Singaporeans who have been quietly supporting Mr Nathan's family since," Mr Chan said.

Glad to be able to visit Mr Nathan in hospital today. Had been worried throughout the US trip. While Mr Nathan is still critically ill, he is restful and his vital signs stable.
Will need to continue to pray for Mr Nathan and his family.

Mr Nathan, 92, is Singapore's sixth and longest-serving president. He was head of state from 1999 to 2011.

Get-well wishes have poured in for him from visitors to SGH, which include senior civil servants and long-time friends like President Tony Tan Keng Yam, chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers J. Y. Pillay, Deputy Prime Ministers Teo Chee Hean and Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

I am told no vacant slots for Mandai Crematory Service on all Saturdays. All stand by for Prataman.

So when his cremation falls on a Saturday, you know you heard it here.

This oily Jabba the Hutt---will he attract more sympathy votes?
