gohmengseng damn dulan with eld...how?

Pap would love Ah Seng to continue in next GE to help them boost their percentage of win votes

Any possibility GMS participated coz his employer asked him to? Winning was never the objective?

Had GMS not contested in MacP, the vote share of PAP would be below the 61% scored in 2011, ie, lowest ever on record.

GMS contribution in this regard was important on hindsight. I hope he has been paid well, with CPF & Medisave contributions too.

He gotten 28% protest votes. That the number of anti pap hardcores in McPherson. Not a bad starting point for any serious opposition. It a waste that WP gave up McPherson.

Erection over, it goes into the waste paper basket same as a used condom. Haha
I think they will frame it and put it in the pantry so staff there can point at it during break times and have a jolly good laugh.

For a moment, I thought his letter will be filed away to gather dust or worse still, thrown into the nearest waste paper bin:biggrin:
Or in this modern age, classified as spam, goes straight into spam folder.

I've got further take on it. The PAP does not field a woman candidate in an SMC unless they are completely confident of her. This is after all an Asian society with patriarchal mindset, even amongst (perhaps especially amongst) female voters. As for guys - lets face it; guys wanna fuck a pretty face, but they won't vote for one.

TPL scored 67% in 2015 - can be attributed to LKY effect.

TPL was the only one out of two candidates who actually increased her vote share in 2020 - at a time when every other PAP candidate/GRC had decreased vote share - it can only be attributed to everything coming together for her. Apart from the obvious spin coming from Upper Changi Road that she worked very hard to connect with those uncles there, I would say part of it has to be the GMS effect.

Notice also how this time, the voters were especially hard on opposition candidates who were not from the main SDP, WP, PSP parties.

Her results during GE15 is a result of both lky effect and her hard work (of course with the help of pap grassroots networks) . The moment TPL speaks in parliament her weakness will start to show. She had not contribute anything worthwhile on the national stage which is why she merely add to the number in parliament. Instead focus on working hard on the ground and keep quiet.

For many voters it simply boils down to candidate Vs candidate and not party Vs party.

As the saying goes, "all politics is local' couldn't be more true here. Parliamentary performance is secondary . The candidate that can connect with the ground win. It same case with WP AJ GRC when they can improve on their showing despite TC controversy. Voters can see the hardwork they put in and the rapport build with their MP.

This is the incumbency effect. It surprising that gms didn't learn the importance of groundworks and thought he can do well by just parachuting into the ward with no ground support. He was fighting against pap foot soldiers and their grassroots system, not just tpl.

The result he gets is not surprising.

Couldn't agree more.
