Morten Olsen calls up only 20 players in Denmark's provisional Euro 2012 squad
The pre-selection list saw the Danes call up only one striker, while Anders Lindegaard remains a doubt for the tournament following his recent knee surgery

Denmark coach Morten Olsen will wait until the end of the Danish Superliga season on May 23 before completing his full squad for the European Championship.
Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner is currently the only out-and-out striker in Olsen's interim 20-man selection, but could be joined by Roda JC's Mads Junker and FC Groningen's Nicklas Pedersen by May 29 when Denmark must register its final selection with Uefa.
The chances of Manchester United's Anders Lindegaard making Euro 2012 remains up in the air, however, as the custodian races against time to recover from knee surgery to be fit to travel to Poland and Ukraine.
"We will look at Lindegaard when we have a chance and after that we'll make a decision," Olsen informed reporters at a press conference.
"However, we must be thorough and have respect for the other players, not bringing ones that are half-injured," he said.
Denmark begin their Euro 2012 quest against Netherlands on June 9.

Hodgson Unleashes his Lions
The unveiling of 23 man squad England will take to Euro 2012 has been met with a mixed reaction, with many highlighting the unspectacular nature of Roy Hodgson’s selection whilst acknowledging that the new England manager had a far smaller pool of talent to choose from than previous managers.
Hodgson has chosen Steven Gerrard to captain his England team and stated that: 'It's not been an easy squad to put together. But I'm pleased with the squad I've put together and I think it's a well-balanced squad.' One of the main talking points has been the omission of Rio Ferdinand from Hodgson’s squad, though it has generally been accepted that including John Terry at the expense of Rio is the best decision for England with all moral arguments cast aside.
The decision is expected to bring an end to the international career of Ferdinand and Hodgson explained that: 'I selected John Terry for footballing reasons and I left out Rio Ferdinand for footballing reasons. In the last couple of days I've spoken to both of them and explained to them why I've come to the decision.' Including Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the basis of only six Premier League starts is one of Hodgson’s biggest gambles and there is hope that the 18-year-olds impact in the competition will be more like Michael Owen’s in France 98 than Theo Walcott’s summer vacation at the 2006 World Cup. The biggest surprise though was the inclusion of Stuart Downing after season at Liverpool in which he recorded 36 Premier League appearances, 0 assists and 0 goals.
Re: Loew backs Ballack to return to Germany colours
Former England Stars Weigh up Hodgson’s Chances
England legend Alan Shearer has stated that the lack of expectation as Roy Hodgson’s England side prepare for this summer’s tournament in Poland and Ukraine may be of benefit to their prospects, though he is yet to speak to anyone who thinks they are good enough to win it. Many Euro 2012 Betting organisations have England down as favourites to top their group and fourth favourites to win the tournament, but the former England captain see's them going into the competition as underdogs with slim chances of lifting the trophy.
Speaking to BBC Sport Shearer stated that: 'For the first time in a long time England go into a tournament without huge expectations, which might just benefit and help them. In previous tournaments and certainly in tournaments in the last few years everyone including myself have always gone into the tournament saying England can actually win it. I've not met anyone or spoke to anyone who thinks they can win this tournament, which might just work in their favour.' Phil Neville has also spoken of the diminished expectation for England when compared with previous competitions, but also stated his belief that there is plenty to be positive about as Roy Hodgson takes charge. Neville emphasised the importance of the emerging talent within Hodgson's squad and stated his excitement of the inclusion of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Wellbeck.
'There's always expectation when you go to a major tournament with England but I think that's been dampened by the charge of manager,' said Neville when speaking to BBC Sportsweek. 'I think there's more of a feel good factor going into the tournament than there would have been if Fabio Capello was still involved. I am excited about the young players that are travelling. We've got energy in the team, we've got players who haven't suffered from tournament disappointment, and that's a good point.'
The majority of the England squad will work with Hodgson for the first time at their Manchester base this afternoon where the new manager will begin the 19 days of preparation before the Euro 2012 opener against France on June 11. The former West Brom manager will face his first test in his new role on Saturday evening when England travel to Norway for the first of two international friendlies before the European Championship.
Expectations may have been lowered, but Hodgson will recognise the importance of getting off to a winning start as he leads the Three Lions into a new era.

SPECIAL REPORT
By James Goldman | UK Deputy Editor
England fans have shunned this summer’s Euro 2012 in their droves with fewer than 6,000 hardy souls prepared to make the arduous trip to Ukraine next month.
Concerns over safety, allied to the astronomical cost of flights and accommodation, have contributed to the sale of just 3,000 tickets out of the 7,000 made available by the Football Association, whose official supporters club boasts a membership of around 29,000.
Kevin Miles, international director of the Football Supporters’ Federation, told Goalcom he expects a further 3,000 England fans to travel independently, but the overall figure still represents a drop in the ocean compared to the following that usually accompanies the Three Lions at major tournaments.
Supreme efficiency and its proximity to the UK encouraged around 100,000 England supporters, 20,000 through the FA, to travel to Germany in 2006 for the World Cup, but Miles has warned the likes of Donetsk, where Roy Hodgson’s side play two group games, will not boast anywhere near the same level of infrastructure, nor value for money experience.
"Essentially Donetsk is an old industrial city with little in terms of major amenities or tourist attractions,” he told Goal.com.
"It’s not very accessible from England by air, while the roads aren’t in the best shape and it can take up to 13 hours by train to get between the two main cities in Ukraine.
"When you throw in the fact we’re in the middle of an economic crisis and they’ve wacked up the price of hotels it doesn’t represent a particularly attractive proposition for England fans."
Approximately 50,000 England supporters made light of the distance to travel to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, while in Portugal eight years ago, where Sven-Goran Eriksson’s men reached the quarter finals, around 70,000 fans, 10 per cent of whom booked through the FA, soaked up the sun in Coimbra and Lisbon.
"Unlike Germany and Portugal, Ukraine, and in particular Donetsk, is not what you’d class a holiday destination," Miles added.
"You might get the hot weather over there but other than sitting in the pubs all day there’s not much else to occupy your time with.
"That’s fine for most supporters if you’re only going to be in one place for a day or two but on day three I can tell you you’d be struggling. The advantage with places like Portugal is that it lends itself to package deals which just aren’t available in Ukraine
"It’s unfortunate there’s little Uefa can do about the prices of hotels being hiked up but the end result is that people understandably aren’t prepared to pay those sorts of prices while there’s a recession taking place."
As well as the obvious economic factors, England’s abject showing at the last World Cup, coupled with the recent managerial upheaval, has convinced some to stay away, according to England fans’ spokesman Mark Perryman.
He told Goal.com: "For the hardcore fans who go to every game home and away the dip in expectation levels won’t affect their decisions to go or not, but certainly there are football reasons behind some people opting not to go.

"I think after what went on in South Africa with the team it’s going to take some time before that bridge with the fans is fully repaired. Having said that there are few teams who will attract a crowd of 90,000 for a friendly like we have for next week’s match against Belgium – so the demand is still there.
"I think it’s unfortunate we were drawn in Ukraine. Had we have ended up in Ireland’s group and been based in Poland it might have been a different story. Poland is a country with a much bigger tourism industry and if you really felt it necessary you could base yourself in Germany.
"I just don’t think people are prepared to pay all that money to take a step into the unknown and support a team who could just as easily go out at the group stage as make it to a semi-final. I think quite a few people have got their eyes on Brazil in 2014 and would rather save up for that."
Those sentiments are largely echoed by England fan Peter Checkley, a member of englandfans, the only official England supporters club, who opted against flying out to Ukraine this summer following the lacklustre showings in recent major tournaments.
"As well as the cost, there is also the increasing detachment that I think a lot of fans feel with the current England team," he said.
"There have been a number of occasions over the last decade or so when it feels like the fans have considerably more passion that the players.
"Many of them step up and perform in the Champions League, so we know they can do it, but it seems like that competition is the pinnacle of the game now and international football is just a distraction."

The Blues conquered the Champions League with some defensive tactics but the ex-Liverpool man does not want to see that approach replicated by the Three Lions

EXCLUSIVE
By James Goldman
Former England midfielder Steve McManaman believes it would be an error for new Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson to base his Euro 2012 masterplan on Chelsea’s recipe for Champion League success.
The Blues conquered Europe a week ago following a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich, but their negative, defensive tactics drew widespread condemnation.
Hodgson has packed his England squad with workmanlike midfielders such as Scott Parker, James Milner and Gareth Barry and McManaman hopes that is not a prelude to a summer of dour, unimaginative performances from the Three Lions.
He said: “Chelsea did what they had to do to win the Champions League and fair play to them.
"Particularly in the semi-final it would have been impossible for them to play Barcelona at their own game, but I really hope England don’t go the same way.
“It’s a tough group England have been drawn in but there’s nothing to be overly scared of. I don’t want to see us pack the midfield and get men behind the ball – it’s just inviting trouble.
“We’ve got more than enough creative players in that squad to be able to take the game to our opponents. And with the pace of the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain England have got the potential to excite of a lot people in this tournament.
“Obviously, if we get through the group stage and face a team like Spain then you’re going to have to be more disciplined and more conservative but certainly in the early stages it would be disappointing if England set out their stall like Chelsea did against Bayern.”
England step up their preparations ahead of this summer’s main event with a friendly against Norway on Saturday.
Experts and fans do not anticipate the Three Lions will pose a significant threat to tournament favourites Germany and Spain, but McManaman, who represented his country at Euro 96 and Euro 2000, believes the dip in expectation levels will come as a welcome relief to the players.
“This is the first time we’ve gone into a tournament for a long time without all the usual hype and I’m sure the players will be more relaxed about things,” he added.
“I’m sure they’ll still be confident and rightly so because we qualified as comfortably as anybody else.
“I think the fact we will be playing France first up is a real bonus. It’s such a massive game for all sorts of reasons and should England play to their potential and get a decent result, the momentum will build.
"A win would really take the pressure off the manager too and set us up for the rest of the tournament.”
Robben can still take penalties for Netherlands, says van Marwijk
The national team trainer has backed the Bayern Munich man to bounce back from his Champions League final disappointment, and says that his players won't practice spot kicks
May 25, 2012 2:45:00 PM
By Enis Koylu
Netherlands boss Bert van Marwijk says that he has no reservations over asking Arjen Robbento take a penalty for his country during Euro 2012.
The Bayern Munich winger missed a spot kick during his club's Bundesliga-deciding match against Borussia Dortmund, as well as an extra-time penalty against Chelsea in the Champions League final.
However, Van Marjiwk says that he will not stop Robben from taking penalties, saying that he would be welcome to do so.
"That [Robben taking a penalty] will be so, if he feels strong," to told Nusport.
Penalty shoot-outs have often been the downfall of the Dutch national team, but Van Marwijk says that he will not be dedicating any time to practising spot kicks.
"There's not much point in doing that [practising]," he continued. "It is difficult to imitate a situation similar to a full stadium, where there's a lot of pressure and tension.
"A player can just decide where he's going to kick it at the start and hit it in a different angle."
The World Cup finalists kick off their Euro 2012 campaign against Denmark on June 9.
Who is Jack Butland? Introducing England's third-choice goalkeeper for Euro 2012
John Ruddy's injury means the 19-year-old will be mixing with Joe Hart and the rest of Roy Hodgson's squad, after spending most of the season playing League Two football

When Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland joined League Two side Cheltenham Town on loan at the start of the season, he probably wouldn't have entertained the idea of being on the plane as part of England’s Euro 2012 squad nearly nine months later.
But an unfortunate injury for Norwich keeper John Ruddy means the 19-year-old has been called into Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad, propelling the youngster straight into the big time.
At six feet four inches, Butland is an imposing presence, and he has used his stature to keep eleven clean sheets in 24 appearances for Cheltenham this season, conceding only 26 goals and helping them to a play-off final.
He joined the Birmingham academy in 2007, and first represented England at Under-16 level, making his debut in October 2008 against Northern Ireland.
Since then Butland has played for England at various age levels, and was called up to the Under-20 squad for the 2011 Under-20 World Cup in Colombia. During that tournament he kept clean sheets in all three group games, letting only one goal in against Nigeria which proved to be England’s downfall as they failed to score.
His performances did not go unnoticed by Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce, who selected Butland in his side’s 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan Under-21s in a Euro 2013 qualifier, and he has since gone on to make a total of six appearances.

When Cheltenham manager Mark Yates drafted in the youngster on loan in September 2011, it was originally meant to be as cover for Scott Brown, who had made 107 consecutive appearances for the Robins since 2008. But Yates threw Butland straight into the first team against Macclesfield and the young keeper hasn't looked back since.
Much of the credit for Butland’s success has been put down to his time at Birmingham’s academy under coach Dave Watson, formerly a keeper at Barnsley.
Watson has nurtured the talents of former England keeper Ben Foster and current number one Joe Hart during their time at St Andrew’s, and looks to have moulded another potential England shot-stopper in the form of Butland.
Manager Chris Hughton wisely tied the 19-year-old down to a lengthy contract, keeping him with Birmingham until 2015, by which time he may have represented England at a World Cup, with the tournament in Rio de Janeiro taking place in 2014.
Butland recently expressed gratitude for his time at Whaddon Road this season, believing it has improved him as a player.
He told BBC Sport in November: “It's about preparing yourself and making the most of that opportunity and hopefully I've done that.
"It's been a really good experience and I've enjoyed every minute of it.”
Having been recalled to Birmingham in April following an injury to Boaz Myhill, Butland was not set to feature for Cheltenham in the League Two play-off final against Crewe on Sunday, but consolation for the youngster takes form in the place of a call-up to the England squad.
Butland will join up with Roy Hodgson's men next week and could feature in the friendly against Belgium on June 2, earning what could be the first of many international caps.

Tuesday's friendly encounter between Bayern Munich and Netherlands was all about one man: Arjen Robben. After nearly two years of haggling back and forth between both parties as to who was responsible for the hamstring injury that kept the winger out of action for the entire first half of the 2010-11 campaign, the match at the Allianz Arena was meant to close the matter once and for all.
However, rather than ending a chapter of his career that Robben would prefer to forget about, Tuesday’s game was the start of yet more controversy.
The former Real Madrid star had become a hugely popular figure with the Bavarian faithful since his arrival at the club, but his missed spot kick in the Champions League final against Chelsea last Saturday seems to have severely damaged his reputation in Bavaria.
Robben featured for only 15 minutes for Oranje, but this was more than enough for the Bayern fans to make it clear that they will not forget about the attacker’s profligacy from 12 yards just like that.
The 28-year-old was jeered every time he touched the ball, and although a few fans apologised for what happened afterwards, their behavior was a clear signal toward the Dutchman.
Some have since voiced their concerns that the Bayern faithful’s shameful behavior could negatively affect Robben as he prepares for Euro 2012.
Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that the attacker will indeed let Tuesday’s events get to him in a way that it could impact on his performances this summer.
All alone | Certain Bayern fans blame the Dutchman for their Champions League final defeat
Admittedly, Robben has been unable to cope with the pressure when it mattered most, such as during the 2010 World Cup final, and the Champions League showpiece. However, there have never been any doubts about the Netherlands international’s mental state, and his ability to deal with disappointments.
Holland skipper Mark van Bommel already stated that Robben would not crumble after Saturday’s Champions League let down.
"Don't forget that he's a real fighter. Arjen has had to deal with a number of injuries, but always fought back and returned to his usual best. He'll get over this disappointment as well."
Indeed, Robben has shown time and time again that he is incredibly strong mentally, as illustrated by his numerous comebacks from injury, while never failing to bounce back from disappointments on the pitch, either.
Following a six-month injury layoff in 2010, Robben quickly hit top form again in early 2011 as he helped Bayern to Champions League qualification. After missing a crucial spot kick versus Borussia Dortmund earlier this season, the winger responded by netting a crucial penalty in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
Even after being pushed out at Madrid against his will in the summer of 2009, Robben did not budge as he enjoyed perhaps his best-ever season, guiding Bayern to the Bundesliga title, DFB Pokal and Champions League final, as well as reaching the World Cup final with Netherlands.

It is therefore unlikely that we will see a disillusioned Robben at Euro 2012 as the forward will be desperate to once more prove his critics wrong.
Compatriot and former Bayern striker Roy Makaay gave the attacker some simple, yet valuable advice, on how to deal with the situation.
"Arjen should just let this pass. He has to remain calm and score twice in his next important game for Bayern [to silence his critics]," Makaay stated to De Telegraaf.
"He should focus on Oranje and Euro 2012 for now, then enjoy his holiday, and then return to Bayern and prove his worth.”
And that seems to be just what Robben has in mind: shining at Euro 2012 among familiar and friendly faces, before returning to Munich to win over the Bayern fans yet again.
Lescott: Gary Neville warned me off chocolate cake
The 37-year-old took his first training session as an England coach on Thursday and has been praised by the Manchester City man, despite dishing out dietary advice

Joleon Lescott has hailed new England coach Gary Neville’s appointment, despite being told by the former Three Lions defender to “stay away from the chocolate cake”.
Former Manchester United and England full-back Neville joined Roy Hodgson’s coaching staff last week following a season in which he has been widely praised for his television punditry work.
Lescott, speaking in Thursday’s press conference after a training session at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, revealed the new coach has already been dishing out the dietary advice.
“He just told me to stay away from the chocolate cake,” he told reporters. “It was for dessert, but he told me to keep away from it.
“I obviously know his brother Phil more, from when I was at Everton, but I know they’re both natural-born winners.
“Gary is definitely someone I respect, what he has achieved in football and the way he conducts himself.
“He’s very professional in what he does and sacrificed a lot to get to where he did, so he is someone I look up to.
“He gets his message across and addresses everyone in the squad individually.
“He passes on his experience of games he’s been involved in over the years. So I think it’s a great addition.”
Neville took media training after retiring from football, and has quickly established himself as one of the most insightful analysts of the game.
And Lescott believes the 37-year-old’s approach and knowledge can only help the squad as they prepare for Euro 2012.
“It’s nice because I’ve not worked with him before,” he added. “I’ve enjoyed his punditry over the last season so hopefully he can bring that humour to the squad.
“He’s probably said a few bad things about me this season – but he’s even done that with his brother!
“But his comments are fair and valid. I think a lot of people thought he might be biased towards United but I don’t think he has.”
The former France boss has stated that the Three Lions should be an easy first game for Les Bleus at Euro 2012, and that Laurent Blanc's men should get to the semi-finals at least

Former France boss Raymond Domenech has stated that England have no quality and will be an easy Euro 2012 opener for Les Bleus.
The rivals have been drawn against each other in Group D along with Sweden and Ukraine, and will do battle in the first game of the pool on June 11.
The 60-year-old, who coached his nation between 2004 and 2010, has stated that Roy Hodgson’s men will not stand in France’s way and that Laurent Blanc’s team should be looking to get to the semi-finals at least.
“The first game against England should be easy as they have no quality,” Domenech is quoted as saying by France Football.
“Then we must not lose against Ukraine and we will progress past the first round.
“I put France among the favourites, I truly believe it.
“Eighteen matches unbeaten, beating England and Germany away from home, also beating Brazil, finishing first in our qualifying group; this makes you a favourite.
“They should get to the semi-finals, at least,” he predicted.
At Euro 2008, Domenech watched on as his side finished bottom of Group C, picking up only one point.

Germany's Euro 2012 preparations hit a snag as they went down 5-3 to Switzerland in an entertaining international friendly match at St Jakob Park on Saturday.
Bayer Leverkusen forward Eren Derdiyok was the hero for the Swiss as he hit a hat-trick - with all three goals set up by club team-mate Tranquillo Barnetta. Stephan Lichtsteiner and Admir Mehmedi struck the other goals for the hosts, who impressed observers with some enterprising attacking play, albeit in a friendly setting.
Germany attempted to respond through efforts by Mats Hummels, Andre Schurrle and Marco Reus, but they were always on the back foot, giving Joachim Low plenty to think about ahead of their Group B matches against Portugal, Denmark and the Netherlands.
The early momentum belonged to Germans, who had little trouble keeping play concentrated inside the Switzerland half. However, for all their monopolisation of possession, any goal threat remained largely elusive, and with 21 minutes gone, the Swiss managed to draw first blood.
An enterprising run down the left flank by Barnetta saw him manufacture enough space to find club team-mate Derdiyok, who made no mistake. Germany barely had time to lick their wounds before Switzerland hit them for a second, which came within two minutes of the restart.
The pair were at it again, Barnetta breaking free down the left once more to lift a perfectly-weighted cross towards Derdiyok, who was allowed to ghost in and plant into the back of the net.
The German defence was far from convincing for both goals, and Derdiyok could have completed his hat-trick within moments when he attacked the ball deep inside the box, but for the presence of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Joachim Low’s men were shell-shocked, but continued to struggle to fashion genuine chances in their attempts to play through the Swiss ranks. However, on the stroke of first-half injury time, they found a way back into the game through a more conventional route.
A teasing free-kick by Mesut Ozil was sent towards the far post, where Hummels was on hand to send in a header off the underside of the crossbar and give Germany hope for the second half. However, their hopes of a comeback were dashed barely five minutes after the restart as Switzerland added a third, with the Leverkusen combination striking gold once more.
Barnetta’s set-piece from the left was played into the heart of the German penalty area, where Derdiyok rose highest to glance past Ter Stegen, and round off his personal treble. However, that seemed to serve as the wake-up call that Germany so desperately needed. Mario Gotze appeared to have beaten Diego Benaglio after skipping past Steve von Bergen, but the Cesena centre-back recovered and did just enough to hack the ball off the line.
Reus went close with an audacious long-range lob that was lifted onto the roof of the net, before substitute Julian Draxler saw an effort deflected just off target. Germany would eventually find a goal in the 65th minute after Schurrle took aim from 25 yards out. The motion on the strike completely fooled Benaglio who let it slip past him.
Switzerland would not be down for long though. Gokhan Inler guided a delightful ball into the path of Lichtsteiner, who flicked a header past the onrushing Ter Stegen to restore his side’s two goal cushion. Germany hit back quickly, and brought their deficit back to within one with 18 minutes let to play. Draxler's initial effort from the left was parried by Ter Stegen, but Reus was first to the rebound.
Incredibly, Switzerland scored again in the 77th minute. A wonderfully-worked free-kick saw Gokhan Inler slip to Reto Ziegler on the overlap. His low drive rebounded off the post, but Mehmedi steadied himself to poke home the rebound.
Gelson Fernandes sent a late header off the woodwork, but it mattered little as Switzerland ran out winners in a thoroughly absorbing contest. Germany complete their Euro 2012 preparations in five days’ time when they square off against Israel in Leipzig. Switzerland meanwhile, unable to qualify for the showpiece in Poland & Ukraine, face Romania in a friendly on Wednesday.
The former Feyenoord trainer criticised the Everton centre-back for his mistake, which led to the visitors' surprise winner, while Mark van Bommel admitted Oranje were not potent

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has slammed John Heitinga for the defender's role in Bulgaria's 2-1 victory over his side on Saturday.
The Dutch took the lead through Robin van Persie's strike but Ivelin Popov equalised just after the break. The visitors then earned a surprised win when Ilyain Mitsanski scored in the 93rd minute following Heitinga's misplaced pass.
Following the unexpected defeat, Van Marwijk pulled no punches in his analysis of the game.
"The last 30 minutes has annoyed me. A pass like Heitinga's is just forbidden. You just don't do that. Now we have lost and that's not good," he told SBS.
Despite the result, the former Feyenoord trainer did take some positives from the fixture.
"I think the first half was quite good, especially in comparison with our last games. We didn't create many chances, but there were some situations where we actually should have scored.
The last half hour has ruined everything. We haven't been ourselves anymore," he added.
Mark van Bommel also spoke after the match and admitted the Netherlands were far from their best.
"Nobody likes to lose. I think the first half wasn't so bad, we had a lot of ball possession. But it's important to create chances and we should have done that more often. We weren't very dangerous," the 35-year-old stated.
Netherlands face Slovakia in another warm-up game on Wednesday before facing Northern Ireland next Saturday.
Netherlands announce final 23-man squad for Euro 2012
Vurnon Anita, Jeremain Lens, Adam Maher and Siem de Jong are the last to have been deemed surplus to requirements by coach Bert van Marwijk ahead of the summer's showpiece event

Netherlands have named the 23-man squad that will travel to Poland and Ukraine for this summer's European Championship.
Coach Bert van Marwijk had initially selected a provisional group of 36 players, before trimming nine men on the grounds of the form they had showed according to the former Feyenoord boss last Tuesday.
However, he has now announced his final squad to represent the Oranje at Euro 2012, which includes the omissions of Ajax duo Vurnon Anita and Siem de Jong, AZ starlet Adam Maher and PSV attacker Jeremain Lens.
Only Luciano Narsingh and Jetro Willems have had no previous international experience in the Netherlands set-up, with Van Marwijk opting to keep the fulcrum of the side intact.
Netherlands have been drawn in the Euro 2012 Group B, together with Germany, Denmark and Portugal, before facing friendly opposition in the form of Bulgaria, Slovakia and Northern Ireland.
