Crumbling of Singapore?

Oh my, newbie, my only fervent wish is you had money to buy chopsticks then.

give the whole I was poor once story a rest, A hole doc said it ad nausem, and FYI, I too am a 2nd gen sporean.
It is precisely why I am so upset at the direction my country is going in now, having seen how it was before.

How many of you have come out of the WC to spew your platitudes?

Thanks for seeing my points. Yes, I do understand that we should compare with the better ones. Care to give an example (better one).

newbie sounds naive

Yes, I have been to Australia and I don't feel welcome by the whites there. Australia has vast resources, large expanse of land. Singapore has only 260 sqm. What is there to compare?

In your case, it's either you or the Australians.

I never felt unwelcomed in Australia.

Is there a need to compare countries?

All I am saying is that SG is crumbling under the pap

I am sharing my experiences and not telling you what I went through. I am not trying to convince you anything. Don't look at things far away, look at the immediate neighbours and then ask yourself isn't we are better off.

newbie, you are as facetious as the average pappy loving urine majority

I pity you.

Not naive. Just don't see your point(s). I have my own views and convictions too.

I pity you too. You are one of those that talks / writes alot. What have you actually contributed to the society - Singapore.

why look at our neighbours? we are not malaysians nor indonesians. we are singaporeans

i prefer to see what the pap has done in recent years.

that's a more relevant view

Yrs back, 30 to 35 yrs ago many 1st and 2nd Generation Sinkies sing praises of the PAP and use to tell that we do not noe what poverty is like unless we have travelled the world, Today, these Sinkies are the very ones that are cursing the PAP cos their very own Children are finding it hard to survive
here.

good point..these older singaporeans have seen the 1st generation PAP leaders and are able to credibly say why the present pap leaders are self serving and are bad

I speak up against bad policies too. I am one of those affected by the 2 child only policy. I too know the difficulties my children are facing to meet the daily needs and the challenges ahead. But I often encourage them to strife on. You can always earn an honest living if your expectations are much reduce. I know the cost of living has gone up tremendously but look around you, even with such ridiculously high COE, cars are rolling out just as quickly. Look at the number of projects in the market. I visited Qbay recently and I was shocked when the price shown was close to S$1000 per sq feet and that was after a 12% discount. Guessed what 60% already sold. You said we are crumbling under the PAP .....?????, do you have a better solution. If you can run a better government and country , let me know I will vote for you.

That's good...at least you know there are many bad pap policies

Do you know who are those who are buying good SG properties?

I visited a family early this month.

She is a Singaporean, 44 years old.

Her husband is working as a warehouse assistant earning $1350 per month. she has four chidlren...eldest is in sec doing triple science, double maths.

2nd daughter suffered brain cancer..3rd daughter is in P6 and son is in P2.

she sold her hdb flat to pay for her 2nd daughter's medical bills and is staying with her parents in a4 room hdb flat in Bedok. she receives no help from the CDC and FSC

her parents helped by going out after dinner to collect old newspapers, cardboard boxes, used drink cans, etc..they sell the cardboard boxes and newspapers for 10+cents per kilo. her parents told me that competition for the collection of these karang guni items by the poor is so fierce in Bedok that they have resorted to go to tampines for the collection.

is Singapore doing well?
