Singapore reported a total of 573 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (Sept 10), of which 568 are locally transmitted cases while five are imported, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update.


A partially vaccinated 80-year-old man died from complications due to Covid-19 infection on Friday, bringing Singapore's Covid-19 death toll to 58.

The daily number of cases has again more than doubled from one week ago, when it stood at 219 last Friday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 127 were seniors above the age of 60, said the health ministry.

The total number of infections in Singapore stands at 70,612.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (10 September) confirmed 573 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 70,612.
Of them, 568 are local cases and five are imported cases. Amongst the local cases today are 127 seniors who are above 60 years.
Of the five imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay- Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, three were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while two developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
An 80-year-old Singaporean man died from complications due to COVID-19 infection on Friday, the 58th fatality from the infection in the pandemic.
"He had developed symptoms on 4 September, and tested positive for COVID-19 infection on 9 September after being admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. He had been partially vaccinated against COVID-19, and had a history of diabetes mellitus, heart failure, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia," MOH said.
MOH highlighted 10 large clusters with new cases including 32 cases at the 30 Sunview Way construction site cluster (total 69) and 23 cases at the Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard cluster (total 55).
As of Friday, 689 COVID-19 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 25 cases requiring oxygen supplementation, and six in critical condition in the ICU. Of those who have fallen very ill, 27 are seniors above 60 years.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 4.5 per cent, while that for the fully vaccinated is 0.7 per cent.
As of Thursday, 81 per cent of the population has completed their full regimen or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 83 per cent has received at least one dose.
About 8.83 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme as of Thursday. Some 4.55 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with some 4.4 million having completed the full vaccination regimen.
Separately, 175,974 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of Wednesday, covering 86,487 individuals.
