Vaccination rate for the oldies is quite high. If the vaccinated ones start dying like flies or putting ICU under strain... then how?

Maybe they are waiting for booster shots to come... existing ones aren't really helpful against Delta.

This not true based on current medical data coming out of the States, Israel, UK etc...even Singapore's small data....

First i am referring to mrna vaccines only not the others...

2ndly...the vaccine does not 100% prevent infection...never claimed to be either...

3rdly...the vaccine seems to have a very efficacious in preventing serious illness and death

Perhaps another booster dose is necessary and also continued doses as time passes on...but as it stands looks like the vaccine is the best and most practical way to opening up and living with covid at the sametime

By the time critical levels are reached for the KPIs you mentioned, it will be too late as it means transmission has spread out of control. It takes time for measures to be implemented and for cases to stabilize. Typically SG gives a few days allowance before implementing any measures; unlike the Aussies, who impose them that very night or next day. Unless MoH have resources to up the 1000 ICU beds in case of "emergency emergency", then we have not reached the tipping point

Difference between Oz and Sin is that Sin's vaccination rate is much higher and at a later stage...

Also Oz policy thus far seems to be still based on eradicating covid...zero infection...same as NZ, China...whereas Sin is going the endemic route learning to live with Covid like US, UK, EU, Israel etc...

That said our vaccination rate has still not reached herd immunity levels as yet...hence the big concern over the most vulnerable group i e unvaccinated oldies

Oldies vaccination rate remains stubbornly low in sg because some still have the backward thinking that vaccination will kill them. For them, vaccination should be mandatory.

To put us on track for 80% and herd immunity, more should be done to force people to take a vaccination that will ultimately save them from dying. In the states and elsewhere, they offer freebies because low IQ people will only respond through this primitive carrot and stick way. No point going the scientific explanation way with idiots.

The food centres should give away free food instead of throwing them away.
