COE Will Crash

it will be very difficult for a couple with two children to book a pte hire vehicle with 2 baby seats

yeah, my kopi kakis and I were talking about all scenarios, with kids and aged parents heading out to picnic or gathering, apparently may need two vehicles.
but in long term, still more economical to use these carpooling services.

But i predict that road tax may be abolished and the impact on COE will be severe

with the introduction of OBU, I also agree on the possibility of removal of road tax.
many advantages as drivers pay as much as they drive, incorporating those carbon tax and what-have-you. GPS location tracking, etc...

but your prediction on COE crashing... I can only dream.

Buy an apartment within 300 of MRT exit hole .. Problem solved and gives you a good travelling option when the time comes for a decision whether you still need a car or not.

Knowing their pattern, COE won't be abolished, they can say they control car population through restriction of ownership (COE) and OBU is to reduce traffic jams. There are people who are willing to buy OPC just to own a car (OPC is still a thing), so there is a substantial pool of people who buy and own a car, but not necessarily high or justifiable usage. Road tax is for the development of roads and related infrastructure; cars, motorcycles, buses, lorries all have to pay, it can be said that road tax exists even without ERP. At the end of the day, this is blatant and plain that this OBU is an additional feature towards a car-lite SG grand masterplan. (Insert whatever hocus pocus they will say to justify this thing).

So, no.. COE will not crash below whatever is the normal lows... even though i REALLY hope it will... and REALLY hope no road tax... but there are too many rich people and too many aspirants to make this hope come true.
There is every reason for a complete overhaul of the COE scheme and road tax. if you dont agree with me, let us be patient and see if there is any change to these two schemes in by 2022

heading for picnic in two private hire vehicles seem to be very expensive for a family which can afford own a car

.

why do u agree that road tax cld be abolished? many people dont agree with me

I have already done it. Mine is within 200m. On days I don't feel like driving, take train. No need to bother with carpark, traffic jam and even bad weather as PAP has spent a lot of taxpayer's money building hell lot of covered walkways linking everywhere. Two things I appreciate the PAP..National Library and its App and Covered Walkways! Lol :D But FUCK PAP on foreigners, CPF, Cost of living, Ministers and cronies celeries and Bullying! :FU::FU::FU:

COE price was $93k less than 6yrs ago. now it is $36k. If it comes down to $10k, do you consider it a crash?? Wait for the day OBU is fully implemented and see what happens to CPE scheme. Will it be abolished or will it crash below $10k

Don't Worry. $10m population will create demand and prices for everything, COEs included. Lol :D

10m population without enough water and food will kill SG. High COE price will not worry anyone

It’s complicated to be charging for so many different things and having so many different bills when all can be lumped into a single bill.
Road tax and ERP could well be integrated into a seamless process with a single component, the OBU seems to be a good candidate, don’t you think?

picnics not daily affair, do your sums.
i can do my sums but i cant do their sums. all i can say is hiring two private cars to go picnic and another two cars to return home is expensive and unaffordable for many families

Please look at trends. COE pricing is supply and demand- look at 2003-2009 vs 2013-2019 trend, they correlate- save for that 1-time anomaly $1000 COE during the $5000 period in 2008.
