To all my friends, please read and help to share. It may prevent another unfortunate episode.

My brother in law, 48 yo, had his first Covid vaccination on 18 April 2021. He was fine until 6 hours later when he contacted us that he was feeling very weak and giddy. Family tried to send him to the hospital but he was too weak to be moved. Ambulance was called in.

Upon admission to Changi General Hospital, family was informed that he suffered a stroke and both his vision were lost; temporary or permanent, unknown. Medical intervention was administered. His health condition deteriorated further and endotracheal tube was inserted. He was moved to the MICU the same night.

19 April, we were told a CT scan will be done on that night and if all good, they will remove the endotracheal tube the next day. 20 April, he suffered his third stroke, while still on endotracheal tube and heavily drugged. The same evening, doctor informed that his condition has worsen and for all immediate family members to visit him immediately. Ironically, family members have problem even to register to visit him at the lobby due to the covid protocol. I begged the counter staff to help as this could be the last time we are seeing him alive. How I wished I have someone from the hospital support team to help us in such challenging time. We were all alone.

Except that the government hospital / health authorities are afraid of the PR consequences (they think that even if it's true that not only Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines, but even the Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna vaccines have (albeit relatively lower) risks of clots & strokes, they believe it is for the greater good of all Singaporeans, to just deny any risk and assure Singaporeans that the risk is negligible to allow mass vaccination to proceed to protect the entire country), and thus they will state, "after medical investigation, our doctors conclude there is insufficient evidence to link the stroke to the vaccination" and therefore no payout.

The government hospital / health authorities will only provide payout for anaphylactic side effects that are already confirmed to be potential side effects of all vaccines. Anything outside of anaphylactic side effects (which is already medically problematic to determine, because the government hospital / health authorities simplistically assume any anaphylactic side effects will occur within 30 minutes of the vaccination, ie. an obvious and immediate anaphylactic shock, while in fact recent medical studies have shown delayed anaphylactic side effects can actually occur days or even weeks after the vaccination), such as clots & strokes, will be denied as "since this is not a case of anaphylactic shock, there is insufficient evidence to link the stroke to the vaccination."

In science and medicine, in most cases, it is by nature (of science and medicine) that there can never be overwhelming, irrefutable evidence that such a condition arose from such a cause. Doctors can only speculate and treat according to their informed, educated speculation (which routinely differs between doctors, especially doctors of different specialties). In other words, (let's say) even if it's true that the vaccine really caused the stroke (which we already know is a possible side effect for Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines, but less risk (doesn't mean no risk, as SPF likes to warn Singaporeans) for Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna vaccines) in this particular case of this Singaporean man, the government hospital / health authorities will only release the statement, "Clots and strokes are a known side effect for the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines, but are not known to be side effects of the Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna vaccines; our doctors determined that he did not suffer from anaphylactic shock, and there is insufficient evidence to link his stroke to his Covid vaccination. The patient's well being is our priority and we will continue to provide support to the patient and his family."

What has it got to do with the vaccine? Even without the vaccine, he probably would have gotten the stroke also(touch wood).. Many a times things happened coincidentally!

Just don't get vaccinated.

If you're vaccinated, pray hard.

problem is that you can't be unvaccinated once you get vaccinated,
anyway nobody 'force' you to take or not to take

just respect each others decision

I would like to sincerely thank the 48-yr old for his willingness to sacrifice his life to enable us to better understand the after effects of the vaccine. Hence the importance of his sacrifice, suffering and possible long term disability is not lost on me, it is after all for the greater good. In addition to paying his medical bills, the government ought to confer him the award of Darjah Utama Temasek (Order of Temasek).

KNN actualee my uncle think since the most worrying part of vaccination is blood clots so by right everyone especially the old farts above 50 after vaccination should be given the strongest blood thinner eg rivaroxaban just for a few day of prevention KNN the benefits of taking strong blood thinner just for a week defintelee outweigh the risk of taking a potential deadly vaccines KNN
KNN seem like my uncle need to lee tune the age to 45 KNN for safety take blood thinner for 1 week after vaccination KNN

Geez.... I like your style.: "for the greater good."..

the only reason why they never make it mandatory is that if people starts dying after they take vaccine, the govt will have to take responsibility
now they can always backtrack and say, we did not force anyone to take

This is really sad because at that age his chances of dying from Covid are less half that of dying from influenza.

Vaccinating a 48 year old is absolutely unnecessary as the risks of the vaccine outweigh the risks of the disease itself.

Vaccines should be reserved for the elderly where the risk of dying from Covid is greater than the risk of dying because of the vaccine.

Sweetie, how does blood thinner helps?
KLN blood thinner helps to prevent blood clots and bring INR level to higher ideallee between 2.0 to 3 0 KLN but this will leesult in excessive bleeding if too high that's why my uncle only leecomend 5 days of blood thinning medication with care since vaccination has risk of blood clots KLN
