Really how much more expensive is a GV2 (two to go) ticket to Bangkok compared to a budget one. I think there's a fine line between being thrifty and miserly.

Honeymoon marred by terrible Jetstar experience

I AM writing to share my recent experience with Jetstar as a warning to other passengers, and to express my concerns over the dismal level of service, as the airline has limited the channels where customers can give feedback.

My wife and I were due to return home from Bangkok to Singapore after our honeymoon, on Jan 3 on flight 3K516. Our flight was scheduled to leave Bangkok at 1.45pm (local time) and arrive in Singapore at about 5pm (local time).

We reached the airport at least an hour before departure and saw the departure time changed to 4pm. Without offering any explanation, the Jetstar ground staff checked us in, and told us the gate number could be confirmed only at about 3pm. Our slight displeasure with an 'acceptable' two-hour delay changed soon after we checked in, when we realised the departure time had been changed to 10pm. This meant we would reach Singapore in the wee hours of the morning, not to mention the thought of work the next day.

We could not access any Jetstar staff as we had already passed Customs. The information counter staff in the airport could not help us as calls to the Jetstar hotline went unanswered.

Later, we found out from a fellow passenger that some Jetstar staff were giving out meal vouchers at an isolated gate D5. There was no Jetstar flight at that gate, so why were staff handing out vouchers there? Several disgruntled passengers failed to obtain vouchers as the staff had run out of them.

The terrible experience did not end there. The flight was further delayed, despite assurance from the ground staff that the 10pm flight was confirmed. We managed to board the plane only at about midnight, and reached Singapore at 3.45am.

I travel frequently on other budget airlines but this is the first time I have experienced such an extreme lapse of service from a carrier owned by a reputable parent company.

Jetstar made no attempt to assure passengers that all was well and we would make it home on time. Our honeymoon trip was marred by this ugly experience, which we will never forget. We will still travel on budget carriers, but will skip Jetstar for good.

I thought Europe should be the rightful honeymoon destination.

Obviously this Sim Joo Jin hasnt tried our beloved TIGER AIRWAYS before. Tiger not only does it better than Jetstar (never on time), they even leave you standed without any warning, as in the padang incident.

Letter writer is apparently a secondary school teacher. Is this all he can do for his honeymoon? Bangkok? On Jetstar?!

I actually think it's OK to honeymoon in Bangkok because who knows maybe BKK holds some special memories for the couple. But to fly a budget airline on your honeymoon?!?! That's really cheap. Worst thing is that you are not even saving much anyway!

Think he kanna fucked by his wife for being cheapskate and booking Jetstar instead of full service airline. So he must shift blame to airlines mah.

Actually wedding and honeymoon very impt to women, better spend a bit extra to make them happy.

Where u go for your honeymoon with your ladyboy wife? Pattaya? lol

Judging from the comments that non virgin wife will kena budget airlines to Bangkok. I bet he came to SG for his honeymoon, by bus!!!!

Lesser mortals only have themselves to blame for being stranded in BKK airport on their way home during their honeymoon.

Found someone with the same name.... Sim Joo Jin (not sure if it is the real Mr Cheapo). Shame on him for taking budget airlines to Thailand for honeymoon!

Given examples provided by bros here of Tiger & Jetstar, no wonder Air Asia has moved from strength to strength !

Pock marked faced man looks like his occupation is zhi char assistant at hawker center type, agreed?

hmm last time when I went for my honeymoon in the 80s there was no such thing as Budget airlines. Just 1st class or eco class. That time both of us didn't care much just knew that we were going overseas for a holiday. The only time I took an airplane back then overseas was in the army going for my exercise in ROC hehe.

Should have buy travel insurance. After 8 hr delay can claim if I nit wrong.

Sim Joo Jin

I find the above story so funny...

Flight Delays are very common, don't care if it's Jetstar, Tiger, or even SIA.

In recent examples of Beijing SNOWING, hundreds flight cancelled, and in Germany Airports, hundreds flights cancelled... so, boo fucking hoo... some people are stuck in airport for a few days... and all take it like a man...

A BUDGET AIRLINES are operating in very thin margins, and with minimum resources, just to save here and there to make a profit, so, if there are any service issues, this is to be expected.

If you want service, then don't pay for CHEAP BUDGET AIRLINES, go for service, choose Business Class for Silk Air, SIA, etc... you know what I mean.

If hungry, go find own food lah, airports sell food right? Boo Fucking Hoo...

No voucher also kao peh kao buh, really KIAM SIAP.

Funny, after all the Kao Peh Kao Bu, tell people that he would still take the budget airlines, and will skip Jetstar for good.... really senseless....

Making decisions based on one isolated incident...

anyways, I find this Cheapo's logic and arguement have some serious problems... :D
