Canadian PR

I agree.
If any individual does not mind the tear round hot and humid weather, Singapore is the jurisdiction to make lots of money for generations.
I believe that Singapore government repealed the legislation pertaining to estate duty, not too long before a very distinguished individual passed away, so that there is no probate and no estate duty (that family does not have to disclose how much wealth is inherited by the next generation(s).

Hot weather is not a negative. Many Canadians love hot hot humid weather all year round.
Singapore also has wonderful delicious cheap food available round the clock. Warm weather facilitates this too.
Singaporeana love their food. Singapore is truly HOME for Singaporeans.

Stats Canada data supports it. Average of 100-200 Singaporeans migrate annually in last 10 years.

That's probably just the number granted PR. Probably only 30% actually move. So 30-60.
Of the 30-60 at least 70% cannot stand Canada and move back to Singapore. Ie 20-40 return.
Final count 10-20 families move to Canada in a year. From a population of 5.5m thats 0.00018182% to 0.00036364%. Similar odds to someone dying from going bungee jumping.

Where do you get this from? I personally know almost 30 people who have migrated to Canada

The number who used to attend the NUS (including the former SU and Nantah) Alumni dinners once or twice a year, prior to 2020, appears to indicate not that many are in the Toronto area, or it could be many chose not attend, or many are not alumni of the NUS. I do not know that many, and I did not take the initiative to find and meet them.

"Fine" weather even though the streets have plenty of snow. Not possible to wear T shirt and shorts outside unless you want to commit suicide and plenty of Westernised Chinese food. But still it is okay, low population density (compared to Asia) even in its major cities. Social distancing is the norm, I like...

Daily and all-time temperature records are expected to be broken over the coming days as a "heat dome" settles in over Western Canada, from British Columbia into Saskatchewan and up into the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
Last week, CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe said that heat dome is what is expected to break records.
"Sinking air will push down on the air near the ground, basically like a pressure cooker," Wagstaffe said.
"That high is not going anywhere anytime soon."

And climate changes means such trends are not going away anytime soon, Wagstaffe said.
"We're breaking some very old records, and that's always an indication of climate change," she said. "But also we're breaking records from just a couple of years ago.
"And every time we see records that are quite new, it means our baseline is shifting."

Record temperatures

Environment Canada said afternoon high temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-30s Sunday afternoon before peaking near 40 C in the middle of the week in some regions of southern Alberta.
The agency is urging Albertans to:

  • Reschedule outdoor activities to cooler times in the day.
  • Take frequent breaks from the heat and spend time in cool indoor places when possible.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Never leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle.
The last time Calgary had a stretch with five days of 32 C was in 1914. Edmonton is predicted to break its temperature record of 37.2 C, which was set in 1937.
A swath of central and western Saskatchewan, along with parts of the Northwest Territories, are also under a heat warning on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

B.C. was hottest place in Canada on Saturday

British Columbia shattered temperature records on Saturday, with the village of Lytton posting the hottest temperature in the country — a record-breaking 43.2 C, according to Environment Canada.

It's important for residents to monitor themselves for symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, Environment Canada said.
The high temperatures bring with them an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those with underlying health conditions or those people experiencing homelessness.

Calgary resident Danny Walker was delivering bottles of water on Saturday to The Mustard Seed, a shelter in the city's downtown that has expressed an urgent need for bottled water in recent days.
"We gotta help, that's all," Walker said.
Symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion include high body temperature, lack of sweat, fainting, unconsciousness and confusion.
Little to no reprieve is expected overnight as overnight lows will remain between 15 and 25 C throughout parts of Alberta.[/COLOR]

Today’s sunset was beautiful due to the turbulent weather. Grey clouds with crimson red bottoms.

Danforth is that run down.
I have lived near Playter Blvd. since I came to Toronto. I am 4 minutes walk to the quiet Chester Subway Station, where there are no connecting busses or streetcars.
Just reading old posts this late. Your neighbourhood main road is ridiculously packed this summer with so many patios and people. It’s like people have been released from cages and cannot get enough of patio dining.

I’ll be curious to see the results of 2021 Census… you’ll have the breakdown of immigrants by nationality in each major city. Then compare against 2016 as well.
