these fotos make me sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9% to 11% GST increases will see more people fighting for a bed in hospital corridors. And not to mention the immigration floodgate will open 70%. Also Lui Tuck Yew with all his intelligence was made a scapegoat to cushion the public transport breakdowns, let's see who will be next. It takes Singh 18 yrs to finally spout his paradigm shift.

the victorious PAP will fix them

so don't worry
you voted for the winning team
let the winning team do their job

it will be another 5 years of Utopian living in Singapore

...The swing in favour of the People’s Action Party (PAP) in the latest General Election may never happen again, and the PAP must realise there remains fundamental issues they cannot ignore, if they wish to consolidate their position and gain greater trust from the people, said former Member of Parliament Inderjit Singh...

This bayi is discernible enough to understand the big win of pappies in GE2015 is a freak win and not sustainable in future GE.

Strong undercurrent of anti-pappies voters remains. It is up to pappies to win over these anti pappies voters but if PWP 6.9 continues to be pushed ahead, more anti-pappies voters will be created instead. This is basically the unspoken warning from this bayi.

Wait until you get screwed by foreigners and your utopian living will turn upside down. Don't take things for granted. A big win does not mean pappies will fix problems. LHL may think he can do whatever he wishes, not necessarily for benefits of sinkies.

.....voters today are unwilling to blindly trust the party. “The worry among some Singaporeans is that with a stronger-than-expected mandate, the PAP may feel there is no need to change itself. But the general feeling among insiders and observers is that the PAP needs to continue to change to become more inclusive, listen more to people, (and) add more political judgement in policy making.”...

It is already announced by pappies that it will ownself check ownself, which is indeed stupidity and arrogance rolled into one. This bayi does not subscribe to this rubbish.

If pappies do not change for the better to rule sinapor for sinaporans, its end is only a matter of time.

...He also urged party leaders to take victory “in humility”. “The Government’s past ‘We know best’ attitude will not work among Singaporeans in the future. Elitism is also something the PAP Government should be concerned about especially since the party continues to choose the elites to become key appointment holders.”

Choosing elites to hold key appointments may be part of meritocracy...but these elites must have heads planted squarely on their shoulders, not floating in the clouds, and with their feet planted firmly on the ground to serve sinkies, not using their feets to trample sinkies.

Apart from eliminating screwball elites, who think they are special breeds, pappies must also get rid of MPs who lost their touch with the ground but who are still intact after GE 2015.

One of the infamous MPs is that woman who told sinkies to fuck off if unhappy being sinkies. Amy Khor? Nothing done to remove her by pappies despite her provocative remark. No wonder this Bayi is referring again and again to elitism.

....He criticised the party’s campaign strategies, noting a “‘gentlemanly’ campaign would have been much more effective”. The PAP, he felt, spent too much time attacking the Workers’ Party on town council issues and discrediting Opposition manifestos...

Despite being MIW for 18 years, this Bayi still did not realise pappies wanted oppo parties to be whiter than their white. Any stain on character, conduct, behaviour or lapse in management of public money found on the oppo parties will be magnified multi-folds to spew dust and hot rocks like a volcano to frighten sinkies.

This is pappies' strategy but this Bay still wanted pappies to conduct gentlemanly campaign. Bayi is still in dreamland.

“Voters would have liked a more calculated, calm and gentlemanly approach from the PAP and even if the Opposition got aggressive, the PAP would have done better by taking the higher moral ground. Unfortunately, some leaders also went on an offensive, but some of the Opposition reacted more calmly than the PAP did...

Bayi was not listening when LKY made his famous speech about keeping a hatchet in his bag to whack his opponents. LKY had balek kampong but his hatchet was surely left behind. Gentlemanly approach from pappies? Bay still dreaming or forgetting that pappies still holding on to LKY's hatchet?

Pappies' offensive is understandable which is done to frighten sinkies. Oppos parties' negative or mute reaction to such pappies' offensive is also understandable. Money speaks louder than words and every oppo party operates on shoe string budget.

......Mr Singh noted that certain factors that helped the PAP in this election were “one-time factors”, such as the Golden Jubilee, the death of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and big policy moves such as the Pioneer Generation Package and MediShield Life...

Like all the other MIW, this Bayi also stubbornly and defiantly refused to acknowledge the major contribution of new imported sinkies, the fake sinkies not born and bred in the country, for pappies' big win in GE2015.

Any sinkies with a functioning brain can see this significant help to the pappies in an election where all wards were contested for the first time. Why Bayi not acknowledging this fact? It is a fact which may alarm sinkies that destiny in their own country is no longer decided by sinkies born and bred in the country but influenced as well by foreigners.

Earlier this week, Ms Sim Ann 沈颖 joined volunteers to distribute some masks and food items to households that might need a bit more help.

"Glad to see that most of our residents are coping well despite the haze."

Thank you Ms Sim. You truly live up to our expectations. Thank you.

The PAP's impressive gains stemmed from its own hard-earned effort, an improved party image and softer policies, says ST Editor-at-Large Han Fook Kwang.

"Singaporeans are a pragmatic and sophisticated lot and they know instinctively what serves the country's interest best," he argues, and the party which best learnt its lessons from GE2011 was duly rewarded.

Like many analysts before her, Professor Chan Heng Chee, chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology, did not see a landslide victory for the PAP coming.

And that, in her opinion, is due to the rise of the strategic voter - an electorate today that is better educated, more discerning and pragmatic enough to use their vote strategically to push for the outcome they wish for.

In turning back the pro-opposition tide, the PAP has successfully demonstrated its winning combination of a sterling track record and responsiveness to voter anger at the last polls, says ST associate opinion editor Lydia Lim.

While the ruling party took a risk by putting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the front and centre of its campaign, the quiet changes in how it has reached out to residents on the ground over the last four years to forge a more favourable image - one that is less arrogant and more willing to listen than before - also deserves credit.

While dominant political groups in South-east Asia, such as Indonesia's Golkar (The Party of Functional Groups) and Malaysia's BN (National Front) are weakening, the PAP's performance in Singapore demonstrates that dominant parties have a future.

Dr Norshahril Saat, a Fellow with the Iseas-Yusof Ishak Institute, writes that the increase in support can be seen as a vote for the ways the PAP has reinvented itself since GE2011. Some of the key ingredients in its winning strategy: humility, being in touch with the masses and the promise of leadership renewal.

The PAP's stunning election victory does not mean its remaking is complete, argues journalism professor Cherian George. Whether it succeeds in becoming the lead author of the second half of the SG100 story will hinge on whether it manages to "get the politics right" and what it does with the mandate it has just been given.

He writes that the party will need to continue with its match-winning social policies, but also advocates for government leaders to abandon hardline tactics in favour of embracing the principles of an open government, which include institutionalised, transparent mechanisms for government bodies and more protection for dissenting views.

Dr Walter Theseira, a senior lecturer at the Singapore Institute of Management's UniSIM College, believes that the rise of social media, while disrupting the Government's control over the national narrative, may have also eclipsed the importance of voting the opposition into Parliament.

This is because social media has provided an effective means for individual Singaporeans to speak their views directly to those in power. The opposition, he argues, can no longer justify their existence simply by claiming to be a voice for the people, who have since taken that responsibility upon themselves - thanks to social media.

Masks, mooncakes and makeovers...

Our activists, grassroots and volunteers spent the weekend distributing We Care packs to some of our more vulnerable residents. Some reached out with mooncakes to a slightly bigger group, our COMCARE recipients. And I met our New Charis Mission friends who we collaborate with in our refurbishing of homes for those whose need that serious makeover due to deterioration in their hygiene and living conditions.
Great weekend!

MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL @ SHUANG LIN TEMPLE 20 SEP

Celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery with Bishan Toa Payoh residents and fellow MPs Chee Hong Tat 徐芳达 and Saktiandi Supaat.

"Novo Winds" from Toa Payoh South Community Club and various ethnic groups performed familiar community and pop songs in the prayer hall - only in racially harmonious Singapore!...

25 years ago, when we celebrated our Silver Jubilee in 1990, then-DPM Goh Chok Tong opened the National Museum of Singapore after it had undergone a major revamp. Yesterday, as part of our ‪#‎SG50‬ celebrations, ESM Goh was back to open the new galleries of the Museum. In the last 25 years, we have invested more in our culture and heritage; our museums have become better at telling the Singapore story. Over the next 25 years, we will strive to make the National Museum one of the best history museums in the world. Then we can all look forward to an even bigger cultural celebration in SG75! ‪#‎NationalMuseum‬ ‪#‎SG25toSG50‬

well done PAP!!!

With my guests from Special Olympics Singapore. The athletes have done Singapore proud at international meets. Liang Chou, Haidil and Adrian most recently won medals at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. They are now training for the ASEAN Para Games 2015, to be held here in December. I wish them all the best!

Hanging up an air plant. These are bromeliads (pineapples belong to the same family). They do not need soil, but thrive in humid conditions, which should make Singapore an ideal home. smile emoticon
