Everywhere is in recession. Where to go to? Overseas s'poreans are coming back to depress the wages further.

Sporeans oversease can cut down on unnecessary expenditures e.g. no gst on food & medicine, lower housing costs, lower car ownership,... In Spore, rain or shine got price hikes & you can go to jail if you don't pay. Not forgetting world class prices for transportation, electricity & water.

Some non-Sporean gov'ts provide financial help to their citizens. In Spore peasants are on their own lah. During recession Sporeans have fewer reasons to stay .

Go check the embassies, I think the queues to leave just got longer.

I know many who have left & its a one way street. When gone, they don't come back except to holiday.

For the locals of 3.5 million, 5 billions is just US$1500 per person. This is really sup sup suai, easily handle by raising the GST by 1-2% or up the utilities charges by another 10-12% per household will be more than enough within 1 year.
