Its an offshoot from the thread on the banning of Kinana.
Some very interesting arguments that was put across by many. There were 2 main ones that stood out. One is rudeness and the other is cloning and using clones to feed points and being a general nuisance or to shift an argument by numbers or to ruin a thread.
I have bought Candicechen's argument that Kinana is likely to be a clone based on points and the number of postings. It something that Perspective was also suggesting and I was surprised by the number of posts involved. Perspective points out about Joe Ong days which is also a good reminder as those familiar with those times would recall that sane ones stopped posting as the garbage level started going up.
The rudeness argument put forward by JW5 is nice to have and I doubt it is relevant in SBF from day one. We have lived with profanities, insensitive remarks and poor manners. Lets face it, with minor exceptions, one half is rude and the other half is even more ride. Lets also not kid ourselves as rudeness seem to surface as consideration when the points are low. There is also the issue of being popular. It seldoms reaches equilibrium if rudeness is a factor.
Lets face it, there can only be a few Zihaus in the world who can be constructive at the right time without playing to the gallery too much. There will also a few Porfiros who can slice one's legs off the body without the victim knowing it just by good argument. Sneering Tree is a good example of someone who can be absolutely rude and also has to ability to to put forward a cogent and extremely compelling argument in the dimmest of light. Papsmear is also rude and yet informative. I am sure after he got hit, he built up his points that no one even wants to associate him to rudeness. Rudeness in essence in my view is convenient when someone has few points to fight thru.
To cut a long story short, lets look out for the clones and despite the odds of controlling it looking dismal we should carry on this journey. We had Bob Sim doing and he crashed one folder because not one bothered. The other things is we cannot descend to the level of racism that 3 in 1 ended up with under Richard Wan. I am glad that someone took care of oldgoat who was also spamming threads.
Lets be adult about these things, there will always be the desire to be popular, the desire to strongly project a point across not matter what its value and there will be always be playground tiffs. The priority is not to allow anyone spoiling threads. No issues if the thread is free and easy.
To Sam and to the new mod ( I thought there were 2) besides the usual, should consider taking out the obvious clones and those who bring their little playground tiffs into unrelated threads and spoiling it.
