Sunderland pair arrested over criminal damage 17 December 2011
Sunderland duo Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in Newcastle city centre.
The Black Cats players, both 23, were held over an incident on December 6, in which cars were damaged in the Stowell Street area of the city, close to St James' Park.

Liverpool are also in action on Sunday with a tricky trip to Aston Villa, while Tottenham will look to bring new Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill crashing back down to earth at White Hart Lane, following his debut victory last weekend.
On Saturday, Blackburn host West Brom, Norwich travel to Everton, while Wolves entertain Stoke.
Newcastle will look to recover from their recent blip in form at home to Swansea, while Martin Jol has called for a response from his Fulham charges after their last-gasp exit from the Europa League in midweek.
And finally, Saturday's final game sees Andre Villas-Boas' Chelsea travel to Wigan.
Ahead of this weekend's action, we take a look at all the news from the selection table.

Givet's pulse rate rose to 250 against Sunderland and the French defender is having extensive tests in a Manchester hospital and could be out for a month if he is not given the all-clear.
Meanwhile, Martin Olsson and Junior Hoilett are also doubtful for Rovers with hamstring injuries but Steven Nzonzi returns from suspension. Defender Steven Reid is West Brom's only injury doubt. The former Blackburn player is battling to overcome a knee injury and will be assessed in the next 24 hours. Five-goal leading scorer Shane Long has recovered from his recent groin problem.
Blackburn (from): Robinson, Bunn, Olsson, Samba, Lowe, Dann, Salgado, Givet, Hanley, Nzonzi, Rochina, Pedersen, Petrovic, Dunn, Hoilett, Yakubu, Goodwillie, Formica, Roberts, Vukcevic, Slew, Blackman, Henley. Everton vs Norwich Everton manager David Moyes is hopeful of having a trio of players fit for Saturday's visit of Norwich. Midfielders Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman (both hamstring) and Royston Drenthe (foot) all missed last week's defeat at Arsenal. Defender Sylvain Distin made his first appearance in over a month as a substitute at the Emirates Stadium and could be pushing for a starting place.
Norwich have no fresh injury concerns.. On-loan Manchester United defender Ritchie de Laet (back) is expected to return to training next week. Former Everton striker James Vaughan is on course for a return in the new year from his knee problem, along with centre-back Elliott Ward (knee).
Wolves vs Stoke Wolves have slight injury concerns overwinger Matt Jarvis and midfielder Dave Edwards ahead of Saturday's Staffordshire derby with Stoke at Molineux. Jarvis has a thigh problem and Edwards a sore groin, but Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is hopeful both will be fit to face the Potters. Defender Jody Craddock (hamstring) and defender Kevin Foley (ankle) are unlikely to be available.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis could revert to the side that defeated Tottenham 2-1 last weekend for Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to local rivals Wolves. The Welshman left all the 11 players who started that match at home for their midweek Europa League trip to Istanbul, allowing them a break. Full-back Andy Wilkinson is set to miss out after suffering a recurrence of his back problem against Besiktas, while Ryan Shotton is expected again to be preferred to Jermaine Pennant on the right wing.
Newcastle vs Swansea Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make late decisions over a trio of players as he attempts to bolster his options for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Swansea. Skipper Fabricio Coloccini (thigh), fellow central defender Mike Williamson (ankle) and midfielder Cheick Tiote (knee) will all be assessed on Friday before Pardew names his team. Midfielder Dan Gosling is suspended following his sending-off at Norwich last weekend, while Steven Taylor (Achilles) and Danny Guthrie (groin) remain on the injured list.
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is set to restore midfielder Joe Allen to his starting line-up. The 21-year-old Wales international missed the win over Fulham through suspension, but is likely to replace Luke Moore in the centre of the park, while Wayne Routledge is set to keep his wing slot ahead of Nathan Dyer. Striker Danny Graham may also be recalled to the starting line-up ahead of Leroy Lita after the club record signing grabbed a goal as a substitute against the Cottagers.

Taylor, Santon, Ferguson, Perch, Coloccini, Williamson, Kadar, Tiote, Cabaye, Obertan, Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Sammy Ameobi, Abeid, Vuckic, Smith, Ba, Best, Shola Ameobi, Lovenkrands. Fulham vs Bolton Fulham striker Bobby Zamora faces a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Bolton. The 30-year-old has an issue with his left knee and will be assessed on Saturday, although midfielders Simon Davies (back) and Steve Sidwell (hernia) as well as goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer (spine) will definitely miss out. The latter will be replaced by David Stockdale, while Fulham will be able to call upon skipper Danny Murphy (ankle) along with attackers Bryan Ruiz (ineligible) and Andrew Johnson (suspension) after the midweek Europa League draw with Odense.
Bolton striker Ivan Klasnic is fit after recovering from a knee injury. Klasnic sustained the problem in the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, a fixture missed by Wanderers midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, who has been sidelined with a hamstring complaint but could make his comeback at Craven Cottage. Defender David Wheater is unavailable again as he serves the third game of his four-match suspension.
Wigan vs Chelsea David Luiz returns from suspension for Chelsea's Barclays Premier League game at Wigan on Saturday. The defender sat out Monday night's victory over Manchester City after picking up his fifth domestic booking of the season. Midfielder Michael Essien is on course to return from knee surgery in a month's time.
Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz is doubtful. The Paraguay international, making his return from suspension, suffered a rib injury in last week's defeat of West Brom and faces a fitness test. Fellow defender Emmerson Boyce, who has not featured for six weeks, could take his place. Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is in contention for a place on the bench after recovering from the back problem which cut short his loan at Doncaster.
Sunday's Matches QPR vs Man United Dimitar Berbatov will return from an ankle injury for Manchester United's trip to QPR. The Bulgarian has missed the last three games after aggravating the problem during the Carling Cup defeat to Crystal Palace at the end of November. Darron Gibson is also a doubt, whilst Darren Fletcher begins an indefinite spell out of the side to recover from a chronic inflammatory bowel condition.
QPR defender Anton Ferdinand will miss the game. The 26-year-old limped out of last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Liverpool with a hamstring problem and will not feature at Loftus Road this weekend. QPR manager Neil Warnock can, though, welcome back defenders Fitz Hall (hamstring) and Matthew Connolly (ankle), as well as striker DJ Campbell (foot). Midfielder Kieron Dyer (foot) remains out.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool Aston Villa will be without joint top scorer Gabriel Agbonlahor for the home Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday. Agbonlahor, who has five goals this season, will have to serve a one match suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season. Emile Heskey is in contention to partner Darren Bent up front. Midfielder Fabian Delph is available after missing last weekend's victory at Bolton with a knee injury. Defender Eric Lichaj (hip) is Villa's only long-term casualty.
Jordan Henderson looks likely to continue as Charlie Adam's partner in central midfield for Liverpool. Jay Spearing serves the second of a two-match ban while Steven Gerrard (ankle) has not played since late October and Lucas Leiva (knee) is out for the season. Winger Stewart Downing is set to face the club he left in the summer while Maxi Rodriguez will be hoping to make successive league starts for the first time since May.
Tottenham vs Sunderland Tottenham have defender Younes Kaboul suspended for Sunday's Barclays Premier League game against Sunderland following his red card at Stoke last weekend. Scott Parker, Luka Modric, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker are all set to return after sitting out the Europa League victory over Shamrock Rovers. Spurs are sweating over the fitness of centre-back Ledley King, who has missed the last two games with a knee injury. Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (Achilles) are long-term absentees while Niko Kranjcar, Sandro and Steven Pienaar are all in contention after playing against Shamrock.
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill could have three more players at his disposal. Skipper Lee Cattermole is available after suspension, while striker Nicklas Bendtner and midfielder Craig Gardner have returned to training after groin and hamstring problems respectively. Keeper Craig Gordon played in a training ground game earlier in the week, as did striker Fraizer Campbell (knee), although the latter is still some way from joining in with the main group, while keeper Simon Mignolet (fractured nose and eye socket) and central defender Michael Turner (knee) remain on the sidelines.
Tottenham (from): Gomes, Friedel, Cudicini, Bale, Corluka, Bassong, Rose, Gallas, King, Walker, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Modric, Livermore, Townsend, Carroll, Fredericks, Lennon, Falque, Sandro, Pienaar, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Dos Santos, Adebayor, Van der Vaart, Kane. Man City vs Arsenal Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta is set to switch flanks to play at left-back in Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash against Arsenal. City are without regular left-backs Gael Clichy (suspended) and Aleksandar Kolarov (groin) so Zabaleta will move across with fit-again Micah Richards returning at right-back. Richards has missed the last two games with a calf problem. City boss Roberto Mancini has no other injury concerns.
Arsenal have no fresh injury worries.Full-back Kieran Gibbs is recovering well from his hernia problem, and could feature over the Christmas period and midfielder Jack Wilshere remains on course for a mid-February return from his ankle injury. The veteran Englishman has been linked with a transfer to the ambitious French club for several months now, with his contract in the US due to expire on New Year's Eve.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player has attracted the interested of several Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers yet it appears that PSG are winning the race for the famous footballer's signature.
Reports in France state Beckham arrived at Le Bourget airport in Paris on Saturday evening with his family and is likely to attend the side's crunch Ligue 1 encounter versus Lille on Sunday.
France Football believe that Beckham could be presented as a PSG player shortly after the game.Beckham is expected to sign a contract for 18 months in France as he looks to put himself in the frame for the Team GB Olympic squad.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed Manchester City have rejected the Italians' bid for striker Carlos Tevez.
The 67-year-old told Sky Italia after the Rossoneri's 2-0 victory over Siena on Saturday that the English giants have refused to accept their proposal, but is hopeful they can reach a compromise in a second round of negotiations.
"At the moment Manchester City do not agree to our offer for Tevez," Galliani said."If it is accepted, then good, otherwise he won't come to us.""We will meet with City again and try to convince them from here to January 31. If we do not succeed, then either another striker will arrive or nobody at all."
"Milan are only looking for a striker on the transfer market after Antonio Cassano’s health problem."Links between Tevez and Milan had intensified in recent weeks, ever since Galliani's revelation that his club had agreed personal terms with the representative of the unsettled hitman earlier in December.
However, Paris Saint-Germain's entrance in the race to sign the Argentine, coupled with the official's admission that it may prove difficult to persuade City to agree releasing him on a loan deal has seen the speculation begin to subside.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has sprung to the defence of goalkeeper Petr Cech after his mistake cost the Blues three points against Wigan.Jordi Gomez appeared to benefit from some hesitant goalkeeping by Cech when he scored an 87th minute equaliser for Wigan in Saturday's 1-1 draw, the dropped points leaving Chelsea six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Cech's ability to command the area in and around the six-yard box has been questioned since he suffered a fractured skull in 2006, but Villas-Boas believes the goal was due to a collective defensive error, rather than that of an individual."Goals like that happen," Villas-Boas said. "It is always a collective mistake and Wigan made the most of our lack of concentration and they put the ball in the back of the net."
"I don’t know if Petr (Cech) was unsighted by his defenders on the goal but it certainly looks like it.""We managed to organise ourselves and had good men behind the ball - (Jose) Bosingwa, John Terry and Ashley (Cole) - but they are nearer the keeper and eventually they lost track of his position and the position of the opponent but then again it is normal. It is nothing that we would point to as an individual mistake."
"In the second half it was a question of patience until we found a goal. Maybe we could have tried to go on for the second goal. But we decided to hold on and exploit the spaces in behind but we conceded a goal that is disappointing.""It is a pity. The players fought hard so confidence is not affected but it is a fair result. It does not undo the positivity of recent weeks."
Wigan need all the points they can get as they fight against relegation, and manager Roberto Martinez said their fighting effort against Chelsea felt like a win."The performance gives you that feeling that we have picked up all three points not just one," Martinez told Wigan's official website.
"Even though we were playing a fantastic team in great form, you have to look at the amount of corners we had compared to them, the amount of possession and the attempts on target.""I think the statistics prove what a fantastic performance it was.""The players were thinking at all times and coped with Chelsea's threat when they had the ball really well and then we showed a really dangerous streak in the way we played."

Even with regular left-backs Aleksandar Kolarov (injured) and Gael Clichy (suspended) out of Sunday's clash with Arsenal, Bridge is not getting a look in.
Mancini told The Mail on Sunday: "We have a problem at left-back.
"My choices are Stefan Savic, Pablo Zabaleta, Joleon Lescott or Karim Rekik, a young player. It is important to get it correct."
With City keen to lower their wage bill, they are looking to offload Bridge and Onuoha permanently rather than on a short-term deal.
Mancini added in the Sunday Mirror: "If we take a player from another club, we pay a lot of money, yet other clubs want to take players from us on loan. It is not correct.

Court challenge to tube strike Legal action aimed at halting a planned strike by Tube drivers in London on Boxing Day in a row over pay will be heard at the High Court on Wednesday.
London Underground (LU) is challenging the validity of the strike called by the Aslef union's leadership over its claims for additional Boxing Day pay. The union announced last week it was calling four 24-hour strikes in the coming weeks, claiming LU was offering no extra pay for working the bank holiday.
Arsenal and Chelsea could both be forced to postpone Boxing Day fixtures due to the planned strike. Both clubs are concerned that supporters and employees could struggle to travel to their games, with Arsenal due to host Wolves at the Emirates Stadium and Chelsea taking on Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
LU said Aslef was seeking triple pay and an extra day off for working on Boxing Day, adding that the drivers already earned a premium in their annual salary for working on public holidays. Howard Collins, LU's chief operating officer, said: "This threat of strike action is disgraceful, and Londoners will share our disbelief at these outrageous claims by Aslef's leadership for even more money to work on a day for which their members are already being paid.
"LU has a long-standing agreement with all of its trade unions which covers working arrangements on public holidays, and Boxing Day is included in that. "The underground is a public service that should be playing its part in helping Londoners and the capital have a happy and prosperous Christmas, and we will take every possible step to ensure that happens."
An Aslef spokesman said the union was not surprised at the legal challenge, but it was disappointed, adding: "I am sure Londoners would prefer LU to be sitting down with the union hammering out a solution to this dispute rather than wasting time briefing solicitors and wasting money by pouring it into the pockets of barristers.
"We don't expect the legal challenge to be successful and all it will do is increase ill-feeling, which will make an agreement more difficult to secure."
Chelsea captain John Terry is facing charges over the alleged racist abuse of Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
Terry allegedly made the remarks towards Ferdinand during Chelsea's 1-0 loss to QPR in their English Premier League clash at Loftus Road on October 23, and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed on Wednesday that the defender would face charges.
Alison Saunders, Chief Crown Prosecutor for London, said: "I have today advised the Metropolitan Police Service that John Terry should be prosecuted for a racially aggravated public order offence following comments allegedly made during a Premier League football match between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea on 23 October 2011."
"The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and after careful consideration of all the evidence I am satisfied there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute this case.""Mr Terry will appear before West London Magistrates' Court on 1 February 2012."
The decision comes a day after Liverpool forward Luis Suarez was handed an eight-game ban and 40,000 pound fine by the Football Association (FA) for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
A statement from Terry, who has pledged his innocence since the incident, shortly after the verdict read: "I hope to be given a chance to clear my name.""I have never aimed a racist remark at anyone and count people from all creeds amongst my friends."Chelsea said they would continue to stand by their captain as the legal process ran its course."
"John has made it clear he denies the charge and is determined to do all he can to prove his innocence," a statement from the club read."Chelsea FC has always been fully supportive of John in this matter and there is no question that we will continue to be so."
"The club finds all forms of discrimination abhorrent and we are proud of the work we undertake campaigning on this important issue."Andre Villas-Boas' men are preparing for their English Premier League derby clash against Tottenham on Thursday.
Chinese ref fixed Manchester United match 21 December 2011
Chinese referee Huang Junjie has admitted that he was paid to fix a friendly involving Manchester United.
Huang confessed in court to taking bribes for eight games in total, one of which was United's 6-0 victory over Shenzhen FC in 2007 in a club friendly in Macau.
It has not been claimed that either side were involved in or aware of the match-fixing.
The official's revelations have come as a result of hearings into the alleged corruption of some of key figures within the Chinese game, including the former head of the Chinese Super League, Zhang Jianqiang.
Over 60 coaches, players, referees, and other officials are facing charges of match-fixing and bribery after a two-year investigation into the country's domestic football scene.
As well as match-fixing, some senior Chinese Football Association (CFA) members also stand accused of accepting payments from players wanting to be called up to the national team.
