Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya yesterday ordered all Thai envoys in Europe to check on Thaksin's whereabouts.
The order came after the minister received confirmation that Thaksin had left Sweden on Monday for another European country, Mr Kasit's secretary, Panich Vikitsreth said.
Mr Panich said Thaksin entered Sweden from Dubai with two other people on the weekend using a passport from a third country. He left for another country in Europe on Monday night after making a video call to his supporters in Thailand.
"We don't know where he went to after that," Mr Panich said. The Swedish government has told the Thai embassy in Stockholm it will not allow anyone to use its country as a base for political activities which could damage bilateral ties with another country, he added.
"The Swedish government told us that it could not bar Thaksin from entering the country because he is not on a blacklist," he said, adding that it was unclear whether Thaksin had been expelled from Sweden.

<!-- end heading-panel --> City police suspect red shirts are using a high-rise in Sukhumvit Soi 33 overlooking the home of the prime minister as a war room, raising fears the house could be vulnerable to attack.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau yesterday called an urgent meeting after receiving a report about the possible security threat from Thong Lor police station and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
A group of red shirts have used a part of DS Tower I - a 38-storey residential building only 200 metres from Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's home - as one of their war rooms, the report said.
Mr Abhisit was advised to leave the house the day the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) began its anti-government rallies in Bangkok last month.
Officers on patrol from Thong Lor police station had spotted a group of people wearing red shirts entering and leaving the building. The officers were ordered to keep a watch on the group and the NIA was asked to spy on them.
Piyakorn Thongsongserm, the building's manager, said she did not know whether the red shirts were using it for meetings.
All she knew was that police dropped by more frequently these days. Only a small number of rooms in the building were left for rent as most had been sold, she said.
Meanwhile, former deputy army chief Wichit Yathip has dismissed speculation that he is the former military official with the initial "W" from Class 20 of the Chualachomklao Royal Military Academy suspected of being behind a recent spate of bomb and gun attacks.
Gen Wichit said the Crime Suppression Division had raised suspicions about the Class 20 alumni as a whole, casting doubt on everyone's reputation.
Acting police chief Pateep Tanprasert dismissed media reports about police suspecting a Class 20 alumni group.
Sansern Kaewkamnerd, spokesman for the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), said he knew nothing about the claim.
Pol Gen Pateep said 40 police investigators were looking into the recent attacks, which started on March 12, the same day the UDD supporters began gathering in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Division 1 is looking for two men suspected of throwing an M67 grenade into the compound of the Gen Prem Tinsulanonda Foundation on Tuesday night.
They were captured on a surveillance camera arriving on a <leo_highlight style="border-bottom: 2px solid rgb(255, 255, 150); background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; cursor: pointer; display: inline; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" id="leoHighlights_Underline_0" onclick="leoHighlightsHandleClick('leoHighlights_Underline_0')" onmouseover="leoHighlightsHandleMouseOver('leoHighlights_Underline_0')" onmouseout="leoHighlightsHandleMouseOut('leoHighlights_Underline_0')" leohighlights_keywords="motorcycle" leohighlights_url_top="http%3A//shortcuts.thebrowserhighlighter.com/leonardo/plugin/highlights/3_1/tbh_highlightsTop.jsp?keywords%3Dmotorcycle%26domain%3Dwww.bangkokpost.com" leohighlights_url_bottom="http%3A//shortcuts.thebrowserhighlighter.com/leonardo/plugin/highlights/3_1/tbh_highlightsBottom.jsp?keywords%3Dmotorcycle%26domain%3Dwww.bangkokpost.com" leohighlights_underline="true">motorcycle</leo_highlight>, throwing the grenade into the foundation, and fleeing in the direction of the Wa Su Kri pier, said Pol Maj Gen Wichai Sangpraphai, the division's chief.
The division is offering a reward of 200,000 baht for information leading to the arrest of those involved.

As i had said, current PM very smart. Now he asks for negotiation. Lets see that will easily take weeks if not months. How long can the red shirts afford to stay present?

His strategy is good. NO VIOLENCE! If the protesters get too heated up, pull back troops to prevent flashpoint. Then wait it out.
