The General who was shot heads the Thahan Prahan Rangers (Hunter Rangers aka King Bumiphol's Army) a unit that was formed in the 1970s to fight the communist. It was independant from the Thai Defence Ministry and reports directly to the Thai Monarch (that was why they were nicknamed the King's army).
