in many republican countries and/or democratic constitutions.... the premier and/or president (head of state) are being nominated, and subsequently elected into office by the ppl. while there's little or no such practice as walkovers.

just take a look at how things r done abroad; in europe, north america, hong kong n even... china.

Your government, specificaly Lee Kuan Yew, believes his method is the best in the world. Fifty years of evolution in Southeast Asia has created a system better than the 200+ year system of USA and Europe.

Singapore can prove its greatness by having Ho Ching as President. Yeo Cheow Tong could then be Vice President, if you have such a position.
