As we can see, politics in Taiwan is polarised into 2 political camps (represented by Blue and Green) and unethical politicians will make use of the rift to stir trouble, mostly to gain personal/party objectives and seldom for the country's future. Taiwan has fallen behind for the last 10 years or so because of the ineffective government that continue to be plagued by infighting, politics and corruption.
I like their variety shows, very funny and their command of chinese is natural and good. Singaporean TV hosts pales in comparison to Taiwanese TV hosts, in terms of the standard of chinese, intelligence and professionalism. Not only that, some of our shameless hosts try to imitate Taiwanese hosts. Bloody morons, we want them to improve their standard of Chinese and not to imitate the way they talk. Worst thing is that they imitated horribly. It's an utter disgrace!
I like to watch Taiwanese talk shows, especially by former Legislator/Lawmaker Chen WenQian in the weekly 文茜小妹大 on CTI TV. She was trained as a lawyer. And Shen Fu Xiong 沈富雄, a doctor and former Legislator/lawmaker, also chose to retire from politics to become a political analyst in talk shows. These two prominent figures are sharp-tongued, quick-witted and have very good insight into issues pertaining to Taiwan politics and society. Their in-depth analysis and study into current issues in Taiwan society helps remove layers of hidden agendas and deceptive covers and bring clarity to the genuine source of problems. More importantly, they do not have political colours and have maintained a neutral stand in looking at issues objectively.
Apart from the messy politics, I think Taiwan is superior than Singapore in many ways. Their people over the years continue to be creative, resourceful and resilient despite being forsaken by their ineffective government.
