Sunday, 19 May 2013, a day many residents in Kaki Bukit division, Aljunied were looking forward to. Tickets for this tour were sold out soon after they were released for sale. In all, around 320 residents participated in the One Day Family Tour. There were a total of eight buses that were catered to bring the residents round the various sites on the itinerary.

Organised and led by volunteers from the Aljunied Constituency Committee, the journey started off with a visit to the Kranji Countryside. Residents had the chance to see how high-technology farms in Singapore grow crops such as wheatgrass, cactus and aloe vera during the tour of Kin Yan Agrotech. At the next stop on the itinerary, residents were treated to ‘fish spa’ and ‘longkang fishing’ at discounted prices. These activities provided precious opportunities for families and friends to come together. Following the tour of the Kranji Countryside, residents proceeded by bus to Marina Barrage for lunch. Residents also picked up important lessons on how Singapore builds up and ensure a sustainable water supply for the island.

After lunch, residents enjoyed a stroll around the themed gardens of the Gardens by the Bay and learnt how plants are linked to Singapore’s culture. The last stop on the itinerary was Kampong Glam, where residents had the opportunity to understand and appreciate Malay culture through visits to the Malay Heritage Centre, the Sultan Mosque and the Kampong Glam Heritage Trail. Throughout the journey, MP Muhamad Faisal took the initiative to go onboard each of the eight buses to interact with the residents.

Despite the hot and humid weather throughout the day, the residents remained upbeat and enjoyed the tour. In fact, many of them were already planning for the next bus tour that Kaki Bukit division will be organising in July – A One Day Tour to Malaysia. Buses brought the residents back to Block 550, Bedok North Avenue 1 at 5pm as scheduled. It was a day well spent with MP Muhamad Faisal and residents left with smiles all over.

The suggestions were made for you to improve your written English.
But if you do not wish to improve, there is no need to "reduce my points."

With respect, your attitude does not reflect the hardwork and goodwill generated by your party leaders.

[h=5]For the cleaning exercise at the Block 511 Bedok North market next month, discussions between our town council and the NEA are in progress to ensure a smooth exercise, including the scaffolding arrangements.

We stress that at no point in time did any of our authorised personnel advise hawkers or anyone that there would be additional charges imposed by the town council on the hawkers for the cleaning.

regard to the cleaning exercise at the Block 538 Bedok North market in March, it was the National Environment Agency (NEA), the coordinating agency, that informed us in February that the hawker association would be making the necessary arrangements for the scaffolding to clean the high areas ("...

"We are pleased that the NEA Advisory has finally clarified the following regarding hawker centres :-

1. Spring cleaning is expected to be carried out on a quarterly basis; and
2. The ceilings, beams and exhaust ducts are to be cleaned at least once a year.

It is clear from the Advisory that Town Councils do NOT need to clean the ceilings, beams and exhaust ducts at each spring cleaning exercise, but annually. It is also clear from the Straits Times’ article dated 1 June 2013 that the Town Council had carried out cleaning of the ceilings, beams and exhaust ducts last year. We reiterate that no authorized TC staff told any hawker or anyone of any additional charges to be imposed for the cleaning.

We hope this clarifies to the public that AHPE TC has duly carried out its responsibilities as required."

We refer to NEA’s “Advisory on Maintenance of Hawker Centres” dated 31 May 2013 which was sent to the email address of our Managing Agent at 8.05 pm on the same day, and promptly reported in the Straits Times and Zaobao on 1 June 2013.
