"A few weeks ago Aljunied GRC celebrated Deepavali with its residents. It was a colourful and lively event with great food and merry-making! Some of the highlights of the night included an elegant Peacock dance, and the traditional Bharathanatayam, performed by dancers who truly embodied the spirit of multiculturalism and a love for art. Other crowd favourites included performances by our very own versions of Michael Jackson and MG Ramachandran (MGR) who got the audience whistling and clapping with enthusiasm. The show-stopper of night was definitely the lively Bhangra performance that got both the MPs and residents up on their feet and dancing to the beat! It was certainly a night of song, dance and culture, and we all enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Special thanks to all our wonderful performers and volunteers who made the event possible!"
