A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

I am surprised that this is even news.
Many issues on this.
Heard from 7 friend. Might not materialise also due to alchohol licensing issue (similar to SG liqour licensing class).

7 only allow to retail bottled and canned beer and alchohol within allowed timings. Draft beer actually dispense within 7 premises. So licensing is like those night joints selling draft beers.

How much is this plate of khao man gai? So many chicken meat until cannot see the rice. Guess must be piset piset, at least 100 baht.
Also, unusual to see red chilli sauce.

1. Thamada is 40 baht, piset is 45 baht, this you see is JUMBO 50 baht

2. This chiliis my home made Singapore Chicken Rice chili la, and the or-tau-yew is our Singapore tau-yew that I brought here, Tiger brand

May i ask? Why do Thai people love sugar so much? Sugar is one of their standard condiments. At the current global health conscious mindset, people are ditching sugar in their diet around the world.

What is the big deal about drinking?

Thai people like to call 7 Eleven as just 7. I wonder if it is that they are not used to the English letters "Eleven". So the number 7 is more recognisable and hence, 7 store.

Nope. Thais like to shorten everything. Lazy that’s what Thais told me.

Yup. We call air-con they say air. We say kilometer, they say kilomeet. We call golden retriever, they say golden. And for some strange reason, they can't pronounce "s". So Lotus will be pronounced Lotard.

Thais also could not pronounce L at the end of a word cos there is no L sound in their vocabulary. So when forced to pronounce L or le it always end up with N

Football => Footbon
Model => Moden
Chemical => Chemikan but this they also cut short to Chemeen
even Welcome => Wencome

etc etc

Singaporeans cannot pronounce the letter "a". It's pronounced as "eh" rather than "aiy".

"Cake" is pronounced as "Kehk". "Make" become "mehk" etc

The entire PAP cabinet should go for an English pronunciation course. I cringe whenever I hear wooden Goh pronounce children as "chew-ren".

They need more than just English pronunciation courses. They need to be taught how to lead a country.

One of my favourite food in Thailand is the simple krapow moo sap, Thai holy basils with minced pork
