A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

Finish my beer and took a motorbike taxi to collect my hybrid. Next door car wash (PRO CLEAN) about to close but cham siong with the supervisor to take one last car.

Went back apartment and had a shower before posting. knn, suddenly feel 'pong cheh', machiam no more strength length. Don't feel like going out for dinner tonight.

KYP, this is a ZTE USB 3G Modem. It works with AIS Sim card. Use this as a backup if the ADSL line goes down in the office.

Surprisingly, this ZTE brand is quite stable, even more stable than the AIS/HUAWEI 7.2 Mbps modem. Use this with my notebook and speed was reasonably fast without and sudden disconnection. You can try this one out if you visit Pattaya. ;)

The weather is getting so hot that the air con compressor keeps running. No choice but to install a vertical blinds to minimize the sunlight/heat from coming in. Turn out the effect is not bad. This cost me THB 12K but think it's worth it cos' the savings from electricity can cover this expense.

Depends la, 5 star hotels staff mainly very chio.

Also considering to use nitrogen for the tyres. Anyone got experience with nitrogen? Does it improve the life span of tyres and increase fuel efficiency?

Depends if free or not. My tires, dealer pumps nitro free.

Nitro lets you keep the air pressure more stable - normally with regular air, air leaks out faster (air molecules being smaller than the rubber tubing). The biggest factor in tire tread wear and fuel efficiency is keeping the correct air pressure. It has nothing to do with nitro per se. Nitro just lets the lazy people get away with not checking their air pressure regularly.

If you check air regularly you don't need nitro, unless it's free. If your car has automatic pressure sensors, then maybe don't need. If filling air in Pattaya is free, then why bother with nitro. Check everytime you pump petrol.

Bro if they have hydrogen I strongly recommend it.

Pii, I think you mean nitro. hydrogen would turn chonburi's car into the next terrorist bomb scandal in Thailand :)

I was kidding with pii chon as usual, wanted to make his car lighter la :D

when I was in Singapore my tire shop uses only nitrogen as standard and so it comes free for his customers. I have to admit the first time I filled N2 I have to pay (not from this tire shop) because the guy tried to promote this as new and it help to cool the internal walls of the tires consequently helping the tires to last longer and also safer, the thing that really made me part my money was when he told me that all aircraft tires are filled with N2 and all F1 cars too. Me sucker right?

No. Just normal. We all want to make our cars nice nice. I can't even begin to count all the snake oils and doodads I've bought over the years for my cars - you name it, I've probably tried it. But the last couple of years I bochap cars - I wash mine like 1-2 times a year now. In the early days, I could do everything myself - change brakes, rebuild carbs, I even changed the timing belt on one once. Now I let the shop do it.

But hehe I still know cars.

Sawasdee krup everyone. I wish all of you have a good week ahead. But its gonna be hot, very hot. So drink a lot of water, 凉茶 better, take more showers, cut down on fried stuff.

Wednesday is a holiday for Thailand, Makha Bucha, a Buddhist holiday http://www.dhammathai.org/e/day/maka_eng.php

This is anoter busy week for me as there are overseas visitors on Thursday and Friday got to go visit customers in Isaan till Sunday.

When you first arrived in thailand did you buy your own house/apartment or stay with a fren or backpacker hotel?

When I first came to Thailand 32 yeas ago I was still very young was with mom and sis for holiday stayed in various hotels. But if you talk about visiting here for work its was like between 15 and 6 years ago all short trips and stay in hotels. If you mean coming here as in stationed here then 6 years ago started to live in rented condo and 3 years ago moved to rented house.

Ok ok ok same same here but one thing I still continue since 18 years ago when I first started to drive was adding up my engine oil with a small bottle of X1R Engine Treatment whenever my cars go into workshop for regular maintenance like change of engine oil. http://www.x1r.com/automotive1.htm It had become a habit.

Thanks for the detail info. Think B-QUIK price is quite reasonable. Anyway, manage to get the rear brakes check for free yesterday.

Bro, why those you paste some anti-UV film over it ? It can really reduce the heat, just like cars.

Many of the world's screws come out of this one place GangShan. The moment you arrive at this town its screw factories everywhere. The word screw is a generic name for bolts and nuts, machine screws and anchors, so screws can mean many things. My products are the small ones for roofing not those big bolts and nuts. Yes some of the factories in GangShan are humungous and these are probably producing big bolts or anchors.

So Gangshan is out-of-bound place ? For you will get screw(ed) the moment you arrive ?

Anything is possible in Sin City. Just have to do it right. ;) The law is quite weak, it says cannot sell but customer can bring their own drinks. Also, many customers are only drinking 'soda' water. Outdoor joints more conservative, use newspaper to wrap around the bottles.

Tried using UV-films but my skills no good. Ended up film have so many air bubbles until so ugly that I have to use vertical blinds.
