It doesn't matter who succeeds Lim Sia Suay to be in charge of NTUC. They are all clones, so it doesn't make one bit of a difference. All they do is to obey his master's voice. Even the PM obeys his master's voice, what's more the NTUC chief. Change will only come after his master's voice depart from this world. And even then, the changes will be slow because all his subjects would not know what to do, they had all along been following instructions, so suddenly when they need to make decisions on their own, they would be lost. The PAP has been talking about how much they have been preparing for succession. Don't believe them one bit. What PAP meant by succession is to put new people into the respective positions. But nothing really changed because these new people like those before them do not make any decisions. All decisions are made by only one man since PAP took power, right up to today. But once fart is gone, those in positions will have to start to learn how to make decisions, it would be a long process and changes will be slow, but at least there will be changes. So meanwhile don't expect anything different from 50 years ago, not until the old fart dies.

It has got nothing to do with ability. if the pap truly goes by ability, GCT wont have made it to PM. likewise, why did LHL become the 3rd PM when he was clearly and decisively overshadowed by George Yeo.

by ability, personality, presence, charisma, LHL cant even get close to GY.

I am hoping that LHL has the courage to send in a big gun to aljunied in 2016...someone like TCH

I don't think LHL will be sending any cabinet minister to contest Aljunied. I think he'll send a team of newbies promising them prospects led by one or two MOSes promising them promotion to cabinet minister, if they win, or at least some backdoor entries to GLCs, if they lose.

Ong Ye Kung is definitely a faster rising star based on resume aline....

it depends on how brave PAP decides to be. if they send an entirely new face with excellent credentials.. who knows? this GE has clearly shown that Singaporeans are sick

we are here seeing and saying things from our perspective. what I said were from my experience and were my opinions. you dont have to agree with what I said. and I am certainly discerning in what i said. but what i said may not be to your liking. dont confuse what you dislike with what i said..

One of the unspoken rule in politic is to fight as if you are winning though deep inside the heart you know you are losing.

Of course he had to tell the world that they are going to for the win else the party members in Aljunied will start wondering what is it they are fighting for?

yes, the pap may surrender aljunied in 2016 and only put up token resistance. anyway, the pap can only attract running dogs from the saf and the trade unions. any credible candidate would shun and refuse to join the pap.

Yes..but actions talk louder than words. LHL can say that he wants to retake Aljunied...but if he sends his 2nd tier or newbies to aljunied in 2016, do you think lhl wld sound credible?.

i suspect LHL's trumpeting abt retaking aljunied was to raise the morale of the pap aljunied grassroots . he knows they are dejected and down now..with GY openly telling them that he is leaving

I agree. Aljunied GRC will become a PAP NS camp. Those going there to serve NS will be rewarded with something else later. Those deemed too precious to waste time serving NS will be given safe positions somewhere else.

Yes, i dont think LHL has the courage to send in his precious few to aljunied. like i said, i am secretly hoping that he dares to send in TCH or Tharman...anyone less wld be slaughtered by LTK, SL, CSM...send in TCH or Tharman and let's see a good fight. the pap will know exactly how the pap stands with singaporeans then...but will LHL dare do it ?

I am also hoping that WP will send in a credible team into AMK shd LHL be healthy enough to stand for re-election. That will stress LHL to no end..he cant take stress
